ChemInform Abstract The polyfluorinated bisphenols (IV) are prepared for the first time as depicted in the scheme. The o,o' and the m,m' analogues are prepared in the same way and in similar yields. The influence exerted by the position of the hydroxy groups on the spectral properties of the bisphenols is investigated. The bisphenols form hydrogen bonds, whose stability depends both on the position of the hydroxy functions and on the polarity of the employed solvent. The compounds (IV) as well as their analogues mentioned above are synthons for the preparation of polyarylates.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
