Rainbow Canyon is at lower right. Beds dip into axis of major syncline with axis across amphitheater of Rainbow Canyon. Light-colored hills beyond amphitheater eroded from pyroclastic rocks of lower Miocene(?) Pickhandle Formation. Hills in background are mainly Mesozoic plutonic rocks overlain by Pliocene (?) andesite and Pleistocene basalt. Goldstone dry lake is at upper right.
