Four patients with myopic anisometropia underwent Excimer laser photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) on the eye with higher myopia, to correct refractive error. The change in refractive power six months after PRK averaged, +4.3D. The difference of refractive power between fellow eyes changed from 5.8D to 1.5D. Corrected visual acuity remained at the same level as before PRK, while unaided vision improved vastly. Contrast sensitivity decreased from the first month until the third month following PRK, recovering to its inital level six months after PRK. As well corneal subepithelial opacity disappeared.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
