A series of 2‐(1,3‐dimethyl‐4‐substituted‐5‐pyrazolyl)sulfonylimino‐5,7‐disubstituted‐2H‐1,2,4‐thiadiazolo[2,3‐a]pyrimidines was synthesized and tested for herbicidal effects. The compounds showed potent activity and improved selectivity to rice when compared with analogous sulfonylurea derivatives.
Polymer-supported catalysts have been of great interest in organic syntheses, but have suffered from the difficulty to obtain direct structural information regarding the catalyt species embedded in the polymer due...
A research program leading to the discovery of an agricultural fungicide, ferimzone (common name proposed to 8b), was initiated when an interesting fungicidal activity was observed in pyrimidinylhydrazone la in our random fungicidal screening. Ferimzone, (Z)-2'-methylacetophenone 4, 6-dimethyl-2-pyrimidinylhydrazone (8b), is a new fungicide with curative activity, which is effective against rice blast, leaf brown spot, stem-rot, and sheath blight by foliar treatment. The synthesis of a host of analogs and their fungicidal properties are described. * Studies on Fungicidal Pyrimidinylhydrazones
The research program leading to the discovery of the agricultural fungicide ferimzone (proposed common name) was triggered by the interesting fungicidal activity of pyrimidinylhydrazones observed in our random fungicidal screening.Ferimzone, (Z)-2'-methylacetophenone 4, 6-dimethyl-2-pyrimidinylhydrazone, is a new fungicide with curative activity. It acts against rice blast, leaf spot and sheath blight by foliar treatment.A possibility of substitution of any aliphatic moiety for the aromatic moiety in ferimzone was investigated. As a result, remarkable structural simplification was achieved by extention to symmetrical dialkyl ketone derivatives which satisfied the requisites for the activity in a sense. The scheme for synthesis of aliphatic isosters and their fungicidal activity are described.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
