Algorithms for finding the maximum amount of flow possible in a network (or maxflow) play a central role in computer vision problems. We present an empirical comparison of different max-flow algorithms on modern problems. Our problem instances arise from energy minimization problems in Object Category Segmentation, Image Deconvolution, Super Resolution, Texture Restoration, Character Completion and 3D Segmentation. We compare 14 different implementations and find that the most popularly used implementation of Kolmogorov [5] is no longer the fastest algorithm available, especially for dense graphs.
Marvel Entertainment movie production house has rolled out movies that have seen record commercial success over the years. In this article, the authors investigate the social network formed by connecting the characters that have featured in the Marvel movies and thus examine their structural topology. Characters like Quicksilver and Hulk emerge as the main “bridging” characters. Movies, such as the Avengers series, emerge as central “bridging” movies. A positive relationship between user ratings and commercial success was seen with larger star cast being preferred choice of the audience in the recent years – especially the ones that bring supermen together. The network of 393 actors consists of 2814 unique edges. Cluster analysis using the Clauset-Newman-Moore cluster algorithm detects communities of actors who have acted together, but yet may be connected to the overall character network through a character who may have co-acted in two different movies dominated by the different “universes.”
Internet protocol (IP)-based mobile systems are ushering new and faster technologies in wireless mobile networking. Therefore, the expectations from these network services with respect to data transfer rate and quality of service (QoS) are high. As such, meeting these requirements is the recent trend in modern wireless technologies. An important aspect regarding such improvements is the modification of handoff schemes between different networks. In this paper, we are focusing on the recent trends based on seamless handoff scheme in heterogeneous networks such as worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) and long term evolution (LTE). The development of the session initiation protocol (SIP) Prior-INVITE scheme is an improvement on the earlier used SIP Re-INVITE method, which comes a long way in decreasing the average handoff delay. The performance analysis using software simulation on account of various parameters, such as handoff delay, cost of signaling and packet loss rate are accomplished in this work. The performance analysis demonstrates that the proposed scheme outperforms the ordinary cross-layer scheme and noncross-layer scheme in a vertical handover scenario.
The study has been conducted in the neonatal unit of IMCHRC Indore Madhya Pradesh. This is a tertiary care teaching hospital. Overall most common etiology of neonatal seizures in our study was sepsis (64.9%), followed by birth asphyxia 48.3% cases, hypoglycemia (25%) & hypocalcaemia (21.6%) Birth asphyxia is the most common cause of subtle seizures and sepsis led to tonic seizures. The most common aetiology for neonatal seizures is sepsis. This is because the study was conducted in a Medical college placed in rural area, in which patients are coming from villages and rural background, where concept of hygiene is poor, so source of infection was higher. Patients of Birth Asphyxia are less, since our hospital is of tertiary care level where inborn patients are given good perinatal care. Due to lack of knowledge & awareness of infant feeding we got cases of hypoglycaemia& electrolyte imbalance. Onset of seizures during first 3 days of life has significant correlation with HIE as aetiology. Most of the newborn are term & male preponderance was found. Subtle seizures are commonest type of clinical seizures, which were difficult to identify, therefore careful observation of at risk newborns is necessary. Background: Breastfeeding is a basic human activity, vital to the infant and maternal health and of great economic value to the households and societies. Despite this, the rate of exclusive breastfeeding in children below six months, in India continues to be suboptimal. This contributes to the high burden of infant mortality in our country. Nurses play a very important role in the maternity ward by giving the right advice and support for initiation and maintenance of lactation in the post-natal mothers. There is paucity of research assessing the knowledge of nursing students regarding breastfeeding and also to study the effect of a structured teaching program on their knowledge.Methods: A self-administered pre-test questionnaire regarding breastfeeding was given to a single sample of nursing students and then a structured teaching program was administered to them. The improvement in their knowledge was recorded by a post-test self-administered questionnaire. The data was statistically analyzed.Results: A total of eighty students were enrolled in the study. The overall knowledge and opinion of nursing students regarding breastfeeding were good. However, two-third of the students lacked knowledge on exclusiveness of breastfeeding. Almost half of the students did not know about the true contraindications to breastfeeding. Only twenty-one percent students knew about the correct technique of breastfeeding. The knowledge improved significantly after the structured teaching program (p value: 0.056). Conclusions: Implementation of structured teaching program significantly improved the knowledge of nursing students in all domains of breast feeding knowledge.
