Haemodynamic changes following PTA continue for at least 1 month, can be modified by GTN administration, and are predictive of subsequent restenosis. Measuring the TBPI increase during the first week following PTA underestimates total improvement, and may give false reassurance with respect to recurrent disease.

The distribution of blood to the canine myocardium has been studied following various periods of total normothermic ischaemia. It has been demonstrated that minor elevations of the left intraventricular pressure during early recovery can lead to significant perfusion defects particularly of the subendocardium. The clinical implications are discussed. Zusammenfassung Die Blutverteilung im Myokard von Hunden wurde nach Perioden von unterschiedlicher Dauer totaler normothermischer Ischämie untersucht. Es wurde nachgewiesen, daß kleine Druckerhöhungen im linken Ventrikel während der frühen Erholungsphase zu wesentlichen Durchblutungsstörungen führen, welche vor allem das Subendokard betreffen. Die klinische Bedeutung der Befunde wird besprochen.
