The Indonesian government conduct several strategies to enhance the SOE’s performance. However, some financial indicators show that reform program has not optimally achieved the objective to enhance the SOE performance. Therefore this paper is aimed to discuss some underlying factors that influence the SOE performance. As a result, the study found that contribution of Indonesia SOEs to economy is relatively low and stagnant. Besides that, many SOEs have not yet operated optimally. The regression result show the financial condition of the SOE is getting better when it have higher ability to generate profits and pay off debts. In addition, ability to pay off the debts is more important to maintain the financial performance of SOEs, than ability to generate profit. This study also indicate inefficiency in managing employee and policy formulation in Indonesia’s SOE.
Human capital investment is an effort to improve the quality of human capital, such as through education, training, medical care, and many else. In line with that, education achievement is a prominent indicator of human capital. This condition must be acknowledged and obtain adequate attention because education inequality also affects economic development indirectly, through its effect on economic efficiency. The purposes of this research is to classify inequality of education and what determines it. The methodology used in this research are descriptive and inferential analyzes. The Descriptive analyzes were used to see description or general pictures of education in Indonesia, also to classify inequality of education, using cluster of hierarchy. The inferential analyzes used in this research is binary logistic regression, the purpose is to inferences variables which significantly affect inequality of education in Indonesia. The results show that provinces in Indonesia classified into two categories based on inequality of education, the low education level and good education level, 17 provinces included into low education level and 17 provinces included to good education level, in percentage, it is 50% to 50% . It is also showed which variables significantly affect inequality of education statistically, like education expenditure and poverty in province’s level.
Artikel ini bertujuan menggambarkan dampak dinamika penduduk yang memengaruhi pembangunan SDM dan kesejahteraan di Provinsi Sumatra Barat, dengan menggunakan data sekunder dari BPS Sumatra Barat. Hasil analisis menunjukkan dinamika penduduk yang ditunjukkan dengan indeks transisi demografi terkait secara signifikan dengan tingkat kesejahteraan. Kesejahteraan juga berhubungan dengan pencapaian di bidang pendidikan, penduduk yang bekerja di sektor pertanian, dan persentase penduduk yang bekerja selama 35 jam setiap minggunya. Ini mengindikasikan tingkat kesejahteraan berhubungan dengan tingkat pembangunan manusia. Ketika semua variabel digunakan untuk mengontrol hubungan transisi demografi dengan kesejahteraan, variabel yang terkait secara signifikan dengan indeks transisi demografi hanyalah persentase penduduk yang konsumsi makanannya 70 persen dari total pengeluarannya.
