Caesalpinia spinosa (Molina) Kuntze, commonly known as tara (Quechua), is a tree of the family Fabaceae, native to Peru. The aim of this work was to evaluate germination of C. spinosa at two temperatures (85 and 53 °C) (in soil evaluation) and two concentrations of gibberellic acid (GA) (0.5 and 1 ppm) (in vitro evaluation). Seeds collected 3 in the city of Pisco, Ica, Peru, were used. In in soil evaluation was observed an overall germination gain of 93.3%, at ay both 53 and 85 °C, while in vitro evaluation was 70% with 0.5 ppm GA and 100% with 1 ppm GA. It was 3, 3 concluded that heat treatment (53 and 85 °C) for 24-48 h and immersion in 1 ppm GA may facilitate germination.
