Balongan Village is one of coastal area in Indramayu which is potential for aquaculture development. Community development through catfish culture activity in this village had been done for 3 years from December 2011-December 2014. This activity aimed to improve the community skill especially catfish culture using plactic pond. Methods used in this activity was training and empowering. The community was trained about plastic pond construction and fish culture technique. The community participated in first year was 21 people, second year was 26 people, and third year was 13 people. Supporting scheme in this program was one pond sized 5 x 5 m<sup>2 </sup>for one person, including fish larvae (seed) and feed for twice harvesting. There were two principal approaches had been done to empower the catfish culture activity which were technical and participative approach. The success of catfish culture program could be seen from three aspects namely participation, community income, and social modal utilization. Based on the training and empowering results, community had ability to culture and harvest the catfish reared in the plastic pond.
ABSTRAKDesa Karangsong merupakan salah satu desa di wilayah pesisir Indramayu yang memiliki potensi sumber daya perikanan dan kelautan cukup besar, (baik perikanan tangkap dan budi daya). Jenis perikanan budi daya yang banyak berkembang di desa ini adalah budi daya udang dan bandeng. Kegiatan pemberdayaan masyarakat melalui pengembangan polikultur bandeng dan udang di desa ini berlangsung selama 2 tahun 4 bulan dari bulan Desember 2012 sampai April 2015. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan masyarakat terutama dalam pemeliharaan bandeng dan udang dengan sistem polikultur. Metode yang dilakukan, yaitu melalui pelatihan (teori dan praktik) dan pendampingan dengan materi berupa pengetahuan tentang persiapan tambak dan teknis pemeliharaan bandeng dan udang. Masyarakat yang terlibat dalam kegiatan polikultur bandeng dan udang pada tahun pertama sebanyak 4 orang dan tahun kedua bertambah menjadi 9 orang. Skema pemberian bantuan yaitu satu paket (benur udang, benih ikan bandeng, dan pakan) yang diberikan pada tiap sasaran. Melalui pendampingan yang efektif masyarakat merasakan adanya penambahan pengetahuan, teknologi, panen, dan pendapatan (912 juta dari panen bandeng; 920 juta dari panen udang).Kata kunci: desa karangsong, Indramayu, pemberdayaan masyarakat, polikultur ABSTRACTKarangsong Village is one of the coastal villages in Indramayu which has a high fishery and marine resources potential, (both capture and aquaculture fisheries). Community development through polyculture activity in this village had been done for 2 years 4 months from December 2012 to April 2015. This activity aimed to improve the community skill, especially milk fish and prawn using polyculture system. Methode used in this activity was training and empowering. The community was trained about pond culture preparation and milk fish and prawn culture methods. The community participated in first year was 4 people, and second year was 9 people. Aid distribution scheme of this program was 1 package for each fish-farmer contained prawn seed, milkfish seed, and fish-prawn feed. ABSTRAKDesa Saramaake merupakan salah satu desa di wilayah Kabupaten Halmahera Timur yang dikenal dengan hasil tangkapan berupa ikan teri (Stolephorus spp). Di wilayah ini, produksi ikan teri cukup besar dan memiliki ukuran yang bervariasi. Kegiatan pemberdayaan masyarakat telah dilakukan selama 7 bulan sejak Juni 2016Januari 2017, dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas dan diversifikasi produk olahan ikan teri. Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan melalui pelatihan dan pendampingan. Sasaran kegiatan merupakan nelayan (15 kelompok atau sekitar 60 orang; dalam rangka penanganan hasil tangkapan) dan istri nelayan (2 kelompok atau sekitar 11 orang; dalam rangka peningkatan nilai tambah atau diversifikasi produk). Kegiatan yang telah dilakukan berupa peningkatan kualitas produk (pembangunan tempat penjemuran ikan teri baru, penataan, dan perbaikan gudang), peningkatan nilai tambah ikan teri (diversifikasi produk teri olahan/teri crispy manis-pedas), pembuatan kemasan, dan pemberian label produk tersebut. Berdasarkan pengamatan, masyarakat telah mendapatkan pengetahuan dan teknologi berkaitan dengan penanganan dan pengolahan hasil perikanan, dan sebagian masyarakat telah menerapkan teknologi pembuatan produk olahan, serta melakukan pengemasan dan pelabelan produk tersebut.Kata kunci: Desa Saramaake, diversifikasi produk, Halmahera Timur, ikan teri, nelayan ABSTRACT Saramaake Village is one of the villages in East Halmahera District known as anchovy (Stolephorus spp) catching area. In this area, production of the anchovy is high and various in size. A community empowerment had been done for 7 months, from June 2016-January 2017, aimed to improve the anchovy product quality and product diversification. Methods used in this activity were training and mentoring. Targets of the activity were fishermen (15 fisherman groups or 60 persons; for fish catch product handling), and fisherman's wife (2 groups or 11 persons; for product diversification). The activities that had been carried out were product quality improvement (fish drying construction, fish storage room rehabilitation), added value improvement (product diversification), packaging and labelling of the product. Based on the observation, the community had gained a knowledge and technology related to the fish handling and processing. Perikanan bagan merupakan salah satu pekerjaan yang umum dilakukan masyarakat Desa Saramaake, Halmahera Timur. Kegiatan edukasi pelestarian sumberdaya dan lingkungan pantai ini dilaksanakan pada Juni, Agustus, September dan Desember 2018, bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi pemahaman tentang pelestarian sumberdaya dan lingkungan pantai di desa tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah penyuluhan, diskusi dan monitoring dan evaluasi. Sasaran kegiatan merupakan nelayan dan istri nelayan yang merupakan anggota Kelompok Usaha Bersama (KUB) atau Koperasi. Beberapa kegiatan yang telah dilakukan antara lain penyuluhan tentang perikanan bagan (Agustus), penyuluhan tentang konservasi lingkungan dan sumberdaya (Juni), dan kegiatan monitoring dan evaluasi (September, Desember 2018). Dari hasil kegiatan dapat diketahui bahwa secara umum masyarakat nelayan telah mengetahui dan mengimplementasikan kegiatan perikanan yang baik, dan menjaga kondisi lingkungannya dengan lebih baik, dengan tidak membuang sampah di laut, tidak melakukan penebangan hutan pantai, tidak mengubur ikan by catch di pantai, dan mengingatkan pada sesama nelayan, keluarga dan aparat pemerintah untuk tetap menjaga lingkungan laut. Education on the environmental and resource conservations of the lift-net fishermen AbstractLift-net fisheries is a commonly job of the coastal community at Saramaake Village, East Halmahera. This education activity on environmental and resource conservations was done on June, August, September and December 2018, aimed to educate resource and environment conservation in the village. Methods used in this activity were survey in the fied, discussion and filling in the questionnaire form. Objects of the activity were fisherman and their wives who were member of the Common Business Group (KUB-Indonesian) and Cooperative (Koperasi-Indonesian). A number of activities were carried out to educate the fisherman community such as extension on the lift net fisheries, extension on the resource and environmental conservation, and monitoring and evaluation. The community commonly knew and implemented a good fishing activity and environmental and resource care better such as no drop garbage to the sea, no using the sea for toilet, no cutting mangrove tree, no burying by catch in coastal area, encouraging to families, fishermen and village officials to keep the sea better.
