Track 2 in KDD Cup 2013 aims at determining duplicated authors in a data set from Microsoft Academic Search. This type of problems appears in many large-scale applications that compile information from different sources. This paper describes our solution developed at National Taiwan University to win the first prize of the competition. We propose an effective name matching framework and realize two implementations. An important strategy in our approach is to consider Chinese and non-Chinese names separately because of their different naming conventions. Post-processing including merging results of two predictions further boosts the performance. Our approach achieves F1-score 0.99202 on the private leader board, while 0.99195 on the public leader board.
Today's enviornmetnal problems cannot be solved solely with technical and economic measures, a better understanding of human attitudes and behaviors is also required. This study examines air travelers' environmetnal knowledge, environmental attitudes, environmental behaviors, and pro-environmental air travel behavior in Taiwan. The relationships between environmental consciousness components with the socio-demographic variables are also tested. A field survey was administered to collect data from airline customers. The results show that Taiwanese passengers have moderate to high levels of environmetnal knowledge and overall possess a favorable environmetnal attitude. While they engage in general environmentally friendly behavior quite often, their pro-enivornmental air travel behavior is low. In addition, some differences concerning environmetnal knowledge, attitudes and behaviors exist across gender, age, and education factors. The contribution of this research is to broaden the udnerstanding of airline customers by examining their environmental consciousness and provide insights for airlines' selective marketing to enviornmentally concerned customers.
Infected aortic aneurysms are surgical urgencies, requiring prompt management to avoid the development of catastrophic complications. Although traditional open surgery composed of radical debridement and aortic reconstruction remains the gold-standard, many favorable results of the endovascular repair strategy have been reported. In this chapter, the etiology, bacteriology, clinical manifestation, and diagnostic criteria of infected aortic aneurysms will be discussed in detail at first, followed by a comprehensive review of both traditional open surgery and endovascular repair, based on current evidences and the authors' institutional experience. Along with long-term oral antibiotic suppression and aggressive adjunctive procedures, endovascular repair for uncomplicated infected aortic aneurysms could be a definite treatment alternative to traditional open surgery in the endovascular era.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
