The article deals with the application of workshop programing system -Sinumerik Operate 840D SL in technological preparation of production. Application of the system in real situation pointed out on several problems and disadvantages of the system. The article contains a comparison of the effectiveness between workshop programming, ISO programming, and CAM system programming. Sinumerik Operate was used as a control system at a milling machine EMCO Concept Mill 105.

The technical diagnostics as essential part of machine tool maintenance provides information about condition of examined machine tool but it requires not only special equipment but also certain level of skill of operators in order to achieve optimal performance. The article is aimed at the set of methods and tools capable of providing realistic simulation of various machine tool conditions in order to allow hone skills necessary for effective diagnostician.

This paper deals with genetic algorithms as an optimisation method and its use for optimisation of the machining process in the CAM system. Tool path verification and optimisation are two best ways of dramatically improving manufacturing operations while saving money with relatively little work. Genetic algorithms can be used for improvement of these operations and considerably reduce length of tool paths leading to the reduction of machine times and optimisation of cutting parameters. The paper deals with the issue of the machining process optimization by using the algorithms that were proposed for the creation of NC strategies in CAD / CAM systems. The possibilities to create NC strategy in CAD / CAM systems using Feature Based Machining were analyzed using Edgecam's Strategy Manager Module, Mastercam's FBM Drill, and Machining Knowledge Editor in the Siemens NX10. Strategy Manager Module of CAD/CAM system Edgecam was suggested for experimental use. On the basis of the of NC strategy creation definition in this system, the algorithms for creating of new NC strategies were proposed, and database application for this NC strategies were created. The use of created NC strategies will eliminate the repetitive steps in creating the machining process and shorten the NC program creation.
