Microporous films with various kinds of geometrical patterns including ellipsoids and rectangles are fabricated by using a self‐organization process and shrinking. A shrinkable substrate can be used to change the shapes and sizes of honeycomb pores. The pit size can be miniaturized from several micrometers to hundreds of nanometers by repeating the shrinkage.
Honeycomb-patterned polymer films prepared by the simple casting of a polymer solution under humid conditions were used as templates for metal microdot arrays formed on shrinkable polymer substrates by metal sputtering. After thermal shrinkage of the substrate, the periodicity of the metal microdots was reduced. In addition, microwrinkles were formed on the metal microdots. The wavelength and arrangement of the microwrinkles were changed with the metal sputtering time and the diameter of the metal microdots. A clear confinement effect was observed in the formation of the microwrinkles.
2161oxygenase was set up simultaneously.After 1 h of stirring at 10-15 OC, both the product-generating and control incubations were acidified to pH 1 (by pH paper) with concentrated HCI. Each incubation was extracted with 4 X 50 mL of CH2C12. The organic extracts were combined and then filtered through cotton (to remove water). After rotary evaporation at water aspirator vacuum, residual solvents were removed on a vacuum line. The crude residues obtained in this manner from each incubation were analyzed by high-field IH NMR for the presence of phenylboronic acid starting material and the presence or absence of phenol. In 'H NMR of the control, of the two substances of interest, only phenyl boronic acid and not a trace of phenol could be detected. On the other hand, in the 'H NMR of the productgenerating incubation, both phenylboronic acid and phenol could be detected in the ratio phenylboronic acid/phenol = 3.2:l.O. Silica gel TLC (25% ethyl acetate/benzene; visualization with ultraviolet light, phos-phomolybdic acid/EtOH, p-anisaldehyde-H2S04/EtOH) confirmed these results for the presence of phenylboronic acid (Rf = 0.36) and the presence or absence of phenol (Rf = 0.75).Abstract: Peptide lipids bearing three different head groups, cationic N+C5Ala2C, anionic (S03-)C5Ala2C,, and nonionic QC5Ala2C,, were prepared for the investigation of their aggregate morphology and intermembrane interaction between the
