Stroke is the second leading cause of death and the third leading cause of disability, whose incidence increase with hypertension. Various antihypertensives are used as secondary therapy for stroke. However, the effectiveness of each drug is still debated. This study aims to determine the correlation between various types of antihypertensive drugs on the incidence of acute stroke. This research is a cross-sectional study. Inclusion criteria included hypertensive patients who had used antihypertensive drugs for at least a year and were aged 36. We included 78 subjects, 47 men and 31 women. The drugs were ACEI + CCB (13), ARB (8), ARB + CCB (22), and CCB (35). The subject had an ischemic stroke (8) and a hemorrhagic stroke (1). The logistic regression test showed ACEI + CCB as a reference category. The result consecutively showed ARB (OR, 4.95; CI, 0.72 to 33.89; p = 0.103), CCB (OR, 2.61; CI, 0.39 to 17.01; p = 0.317), and ARB + CCB (OR, 2.36; CI, 0.19 to 29.75; p = 0.507). The antihypertensive drugs had no significant correlation with the incidence of acute stroke. It indicated that stroke risk was not triggered by antihypertensive and could effectively control hypertension and protect patients against stroke
Background: Dysmenorrhea or pain during menstruation is due to excessive contractions during the sloughing of the uterine wall with symptoms of cramping pain in the lower abdomen. The incidence of primary dysmenorrhea in Indonesia is 54.89%. However, many teenagers do not know how to manage the pain. The pharmacological therapy of dysmenorrhea includes painkillers and anti-prostaglandin, while the non-pharmacological approach includes distraction therapy. One of the distraction therapy that is easy to do is murottal Al-Qur’an.Objective: This study observed the role of listening to murottal Al-Qur’an on the intensity of dysmenorrhea among senior high school students. Methods: The design of this study is a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest with a control group design. There were 100 subjects aged 15-18 years old. The sampling technique applied purposive sampling. Data analysis of this study applied Wilcoxon, Mann-Whitney, relative risk (RR), and number needed to treat (NNT) test. Results: The mean pain level in the experimental and control group were 5.42 and 5.56 before intervention. After therapy, the pain level decreased to 2.86 and 5.30 in the experimental and control group, respectively. There was a significant difference in the pain level before and after in the experiment group (p <0.001). Relative risk showed that murottal intervention decreases the pain level by 3.267 times. NNT of the study was 1.467.Conclusion: Murottal Al-Qur’an significantly reduced the degree of pain with a p-value <0.001
Background: Allergic rhinitis is a chronic inflammatory condition of the nasal mucosa that occurs as an Imunoglobulin E (IgE) mediated reaction after provocation of allergen. The prevalence of rhinitis in Indonesia reaches 12.4% and still rising. Chronic rhinitis can affect the quality of life, especially daily activities and sleep disturbances. Purpose: This study aimed to determine the correlation between the Score for Allergic Rhinitis (SFAR) and the patient’s quality of life (QOL) using allergic rhinitis mobile phone application. Method: This was an observational analytic research using cross sectional method. The number of samples was 46 with predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The research instrument used was a mobile phone application of SFAR and for quality of life was Visual Analog Scales (VAS) questionnaire. Data analysis was using Shapiro-Wilk for normality test and contingency coefficient test to determine the correlation between variables. Result: The result showed that there was a significant correlation between the Score for Allergic Rhinitis and the quality of life in chronic rhinitis sufferers (p = 0.000). The correlation had uni-direction and moderate strength (r = 0.567). There were 52.17% respondents who stated that rhinitis complaints would be reduced after using nasal drugs/sprays. And for the VAS parameter, the highest number given was 0 in 45.65% respondents, which meant that they did not feel any discomfort. Conclusion: There was a significant correlation between SFAR and quality of life AR sufferers with moderate strength and uni-direction.Keywords: Score for Allergic Rhinitis, quality of life, rhinitis, mobile applicationABSTRAKLatar belakang: Rinitis alergi adalah kondisi inflamasi kronis pada mukosa hidung sebagai reaksi yang dimediasi Imunoglobulin E (IgE) setelah provokasi alergen. Kata kunci: Score for Allergic Rhinitis, kualitas hidup, rinitis, aplikasi telepon genggam
