This research was conducted to determine examining the relationship between social skills and social competence levels of Y generation students in health sciences. Material and Methods: The sampling of the research consisted of 453 students in the departments of nursing, audiology, health management, nutrition and dietetics and ergotherapy in the 2016-2017 academic year in a faculty of health sciences in İstanbul. The data were collected via the "Student Information Form", "Social Skill Inventory", "Social Self Efficacy", and "Social Outcome Expectations Scale." Results: It was found out that the mean age of the students was 20.49±1.69, 88.7% of them were female, 27.8% were first year students, and 40.2% were studying in the department of nursing. The mean total scores of the Social Skill Inventory and Social Self Efficacy and Social Outcome Expectations Scale were 270.15±35.56 and 70.87±12.24, respectively. It has been revealed that the social skills of generation Y students studying in the field of healthcare are at a moderate level, and their social competence and social outcome expectations are at a high level. A positive weak correlation was observed between generation Y students' social skill inventory affective expressivity subdimension scores and the scale scores of social self-efficacy and social outcome expectations (p<0.05) (r=0.133 and r=0.094). Conclusion: It was determined that the social skills of the Y generation students studying in the field of health were at a moderate level, and their social competence and social outcome expectations were at a high level.
This study was planned for the purpose of evaluating the anxiety levels of parents with children who would be undergoing a day surgical intervention. Material and Methods: Designed as descriptive research, the universe of the study comprised the parents of children who had presented at the orthopedics and traumatology clinic of a training and research hospital in İstanbul for day orthopedic surgery. The sample constituted 91 parents who agreed to participate in the study. Data were collected with a Child and Parent Information Questionnaire and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Results: It was found that 51.6% of the parents were 35 years of age and below, 59.3% of them were mothers and 28.6% of children were between 12-15 years of age, 75.8% of them were attending school and 31.9% of them were educated in high school. The mean scores of the parents on State-Trait Anxiety Scale were 54.62±8.65, 43.09±6.99, respectively. The mean scores of mothers' State Anxiety Scale were found to be higher than the mean scores of fathers (p<0.01). State-Trait Anxiety scores of the parents who were informed about anesthesia were found to be higher than those of parents who were not informed (p<0.01). Conclusion: The parents' State and Trait Inventory scores indicated that they were experiencing a moderate level of anxiety. There were certain individual factors that affected their anxiety levels prior to the orthopedic surgery. It can be recommended that nurses plan to provide education to parents with children undergoing day orthopedic surgery for the purpose of reducing levels of anxiety.
Araştırmanın amacı, koronavirüs hastalığı-2019 [coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19)] pandemi sürecinde hemşirelerin uyku kalitesi ve tükenmişlik düzeyleri arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesidir. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Tanımlayıcı ve ilişki arayıcı türde yapılan araştırmanın evrenini, 01 Ağustos-01 Kasım 2021 tarihleri arasında İstanbul'da bir hastanenin dâhili, cerrahi, yoğun bakım, acil kliniklerinde ve poliklinik hizmetlerinde çalışan hemşireler (n=444); örneklemini ise 220 hemşire oluşturdu. Hemşire Bilgi Formu, Richard-Campbell Uyku Ölçeği [Richard-Campbell Sleep Questionnaire (RCSQ)] ve Maslach Tükenmişlik Ölçeği (MTÖ) aracılığı ile toplanan veriler, SPSS 24 paket programında analiz edildi. Bulgular: Hemşirelerin %86,8'inin kadın, %38,2'sinin 25-27 yaş grubunda ve %67,3'ünün lisans mezunu ve çalışma süresinin 52,99±11,28 saat/hafta, %89,5'inin fazla mesai ile çalıştığı saptandı. RCSQ ile MTÖ Duygusal tükenme ve Duyarsızlaşma alt boyut puan ortalamaları arasında negatif yönde anlamlı ilişki belirlendi (p<0,05). COVID-19 tanısı konulan hemşirelerin RCSQ toplam ve kişisel koruyucu ekipmana haftada 1-2 kez ulaşanların MTÖ Duygusal tükenme alt boyut puan ortalaması, 6 ve daha fazla sayıda hastaya bakım verenlerin MTÖ Duygusal tükenme alt boyut puan ortalamasının istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde yüksek olduğu saptandı (p<0,05). Sonuç: COVID-19 pandemisinde hemşirelerin uyku kalitelerinin orta düzeyde olduğu ve tükenmişlik yaşadıkları saptandı. Ayrıca yaş, çalışma süresi, çalıştığı birim, çalışma şekli, fazla çalışma süresi ve meslekten ayrılma düşüncesi gibi bazı bireysel özelliklerin hemşirelerde uyku kalitesi ve tükenmişlik düzeyleri üzerinde etkili olduğu görüldü.
