The purpose of this study is the determine the influence of gymnastics training integrated with physical education courses on selected motor performance variables in seven year old girls. Subjects were divided into two groups: 1, control group (N=15, X=7.56±0.46 year old); 2, gymnastics group (N=16, X=7.60±0.50 year old). The students in the control group followed the physical education curriculum for 10 weeks. The students in the gymnastics group took gymnastics training for 10 weeks in addition to physical education curriculum, and this training was given for two days (one hour each) at the university gym. Statistical analyses ( t test) showed that basic gymnastics training improves selected motor tests like standing long jump, trunk lift, sit and reach, balance, run 20 m, chin-up, curl-up, pushup (p<0.05). Nevertheless, physical education classes alone did not affect these motor performance variables (p>0.05), which were not expected.
The purpose of this study was to compaire the self-esteem between athletes and non-athletes in high school. Total number of 320 students (age: 15-20 year, mean:16.26 yaş ±1.02) were participated in this study in the 2015-2016 school year. The students divided in to non-athletes and athletes in gender too. Self-Esteem questionnaire which was developed by Coopersmith was used to determine self-esteem level of the students. For he statistical analysis; independent t tests was used to assess the differences in the self esteem among the groups. The significance level was set at p<0.05. According to results, it was found that the athletes have had higher self esteem scores than non-athletes (p<0.05). However comparing in gender, it was found that the male athletes have had higher selfesteem srores than male non-athletes and female athletes have had higher self-esteem scores than female non-athletes (p<0.05).
The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the level of physical activity, social physique anxiety, and academic achievement. This study evaluated 524 students in total from four schools in İstanbul province, 272 of whom were female and 252 were male students. In order to determine the level of physical activity of students, Physical Activity Questionnaire for Older Children (PAQ-C), developed by Kowalski et al., was used. Validity and reliability of the scale for Turkish population was tested by Sert and Temel. As for establishing the levels of social physique anxiety of students, the scale of Social Physique Anxiety, developed by Hart et al. and adapted to the Turkish society by Doğan was used. For the statistical analyses, averages of the level of physical activity, social physique anxiety, and school academic score were taken. By using Pearson correlation coefficient, the relationship between the averages was checked and the level of significance was set at p<0.05. The results show that, irrespective of gender difference, there is a relationship between physical activity and social physique anxiety (r=-.227; p<0.01) and between physical activity and academic achievement (r=.103; p<0.05). When the gender difference is taken into account, there is a relationship between physical activity and social physique anxiety (r=-.171; p<0.01) and between physical activity and academic achievement for females (r=.207; p<0.01). For males, there is a relationship between physical activity and social physique anxiety (r=-.247; p<0.01), but there is no relationship between physical activity and academic achievement (r=.083; p>0.05).
ÖzBu araştırmanın amacı, disiplinler arası yaklaşımla hazırlanmış derslerin öğrencilerin farklı dersler üzerindeki algılarına etkisinin incelenmesidir. Bu bağlamda disiplinler arası yaklaşımla 6. sınıf matematik ve beden eğitimi derslerini ilişkilendirerek öğrencilerin beden eğitimi ve matematik derslerine yönelik tutumlarına etkilerinin incelenmesi hedeflenmiştir. Çalışmanın grubu, İstanbul ili, Başakşehir ilçesinde 2017-2018 öğretim yılında, bir özel okulda iki farklı şubede öğrenim gören 34 altıncı sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmuştur. Bu çalışmada "ön test son test deney-kontrol gruplu" deneysel yöntem kullanılmıştır. Araştırma bulgularına göre, matematikle ilişkilendirilmiş beden eğitimi dersleri ile geleneksel metotla tasarlanmış derslere devam eden öğrencilerin matematik ve beden eğitimi dersine yönelik tutumlarında anlamalı bir farklılık olmadığı görülmüştür (p>0.05). Araştırma sonuçları alan yazın çerçevesinde tartışılmış ve uygulamacı ve araştırmacılara öneriler sunulmuştur. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine the physical activity efficacy and physical activity of the middle school students, according to gender and to analyze the relationship between them. Material: The study group consisted of a total of 701 students from three public secondary schools, 343 of whom were female and 358 were male students. In order to determine the physical activity efficacy of the students, the Physical Activity Efficacy Scale was used, while the Physical Activity Questionnaire for Older Children was used for establishing the level of physical activity. In evaluating the data, descriptive statistics, independent t-test, Pearson correlation tests were used as statistical methods. Results: According to the data obtained by the study, the students’ physical activity efficacy was found to be good, with no difference between the females and the males (p>0.05). The students’ physical activity level was average, while the males were found to be physically more active than the females (p<0.05). A positive correlation was found between the physical activity efficacy and the physical activity of the students (p<0.05). Conclusion: According to the findings of this study, physical activities should be increased during the time of the middle school, which is a part of the period of adolescence. Besides, in order to enhance their physical activity efficacy, the adolescents should be provided with physical activity environments.
