The paper discusses the applicability of satellite images obtained through Earth remote sensing to detecting archaeological objects – burial mounds – that are widely found in the steppe regions of the Samara Region. Requirements for the satellite images that enable the task to be adequately fulfilled are formulated. Methods of computer image processing that provide improved decoding of satellite images (improved object recognition quality) by a human operator are proposed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
