rhc purpose of this p a p is to study the pcrfomiancc of a rnulti-LANs cnvironmcnt composed of an Ethcmct and a tokcn ring network with rnixcd voicc/data traffic. In particuhr, the cffcct of system paramcters such as the number of crossbridge voice calls, limitcd vcrsus cxhaustivc service disci lincs in transmission on performance are studied. In adxtion, various bridge transmission strateuies are studied to explore the rnaximum number of voice c a h that can be supported in both dircctions. These stratcgics include thc use of priorities based on traffic types as well as various modifications to backoff algorithm. Sornc of the schcmcs arc found to bc cffcctive in improving the dclaylthroughput characteristics arid thc insximum nuinbcr of voice calls.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
