The purpose of this research paper is to study physical fitness and functional state of female first-year students in Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture. Materials and methods. The study involved 100 female first-year students of general group aged 17-18, all after medical examination and obtaining doctor’s approval: the age group was 18 years old (n = 100). To meet the goals set, the following research methods were used: theoretical analysis and generalization of data in specialized scientific and methodological literature, pedagogical testing, anthropometric research methods, functional methods of cardiorespiratory system investigation and methods of mathematical statistics for processing the results of the research. Results. the conducted study proved the hypothesis on the necessity to improve the system of physical education in technical higher educational institutions, which is connected with the low level of physical fitness among students. Conclusions. The study revealed the low level of physical fitness among the investigated students in terms of speed and strength endurance indicators (with 83%), explosive physical force of the lower limbs (with 82%) and strength endurance of the upper limbs (with 68%), as well as reduced functional characteristics: resistance to hypoxia (according to the results of the Shtange test with 46% and the Gench test with 49%), workability (with 71%) and efficiency of cardiovascular system (with 55%). Low physical fitness levels among the tested girls necessitate the additional introduction of more intensive training. The high variability of the physical fitness indicators among the students requires personalization of the training process, as well as the obligatory use of express testing methods for the physical state of each student during a workout.
The aim: Is to investigate the psychological and pedagogical determinants of the students’ healthy lifestyle formation by means of health and fitness activities. Materials and methods: The study involved 882 students between the ages of 17 and 23. An analysis of the students’ health dynamics during the period of study determined their motivational and value-based attitude to a healthy lifestyle, the level of health competence and the desire of students to implement it in future professional activities, studied the attitude of students to their own health Results: It was found that during two years of study, the health of students had significantly deteriorated. The number of sick students increased to 34.8 % among males and to 31.9 % among females. It was found that only 12.3 % of male students and 10.6 % of female ones had a high level of motivation for a healthy lifestyle. Conclusions: It was determined that students were aware of the importance of a high level of health to ensure the effectiveness of vital activity (more than 50 % of students realized the value of health in the system of life values), but the vast majority did nothing to maintain it. Most students did not have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to use health technologies during studying and leisure.

The aim of the study: to develop and substantiate the methodology of using basketball to develop psychomotor abilities in the process of physical education of students.

Material and methods. The study involved first-year students (boys) who do not play sports but only attend physical education classes. The experimental group consisted of students who used basketball (n = 20), the control group consisted of students who used other means (fitness, aerobics, etc.) (n = 20). Prior to the experiment, the groups did not differ significantly. Duration of implementation of the method from January 2019 to December 2019 Test results were compared before and after the experiment.

Results: The results of the following tests of the experimental group showed statistically significant difference after the experiment: Long jump (sm) (p<0.01), Running 100 m (s) (p<0.001) (number of times) (p<0.001, Ball and face forward 14x2m (s) (p<0.001), Static balancing (s) (p<0.001), Simple reaction time (s) (p<0.001). There was a decrease in the number of students with latent circulatory insufficiency after the experiment in the experimental group.

Conclusion: Experimental verification of the developed methodology for the development of psychomotor abilities by basketball revealed positive changes in the indicators of physical fitness, speed of reaction and special preparedness in basketball. Positive changes in the indicator of the functional status of the cardio-respiratory system of students were also observed.

This article examines the history of the development of dance sports in Ukraine and the world, considers dance sports as a combination of sports and art; the impact of dancing on the physical development and psycho-emotional state of a person was investigated; the impact of dance on culture was analyzed, and the directions of the development of dance sports in Ukraine and the world were predicted.
Problem statement. The work compares the indicators of physical condition of the first-year students of the architectural and technical faculties and proves the necessity of making appropriate changes to the curriculum in the discipline of "Physical Education" for the second-year students. Methods: theoretical analysis and generalization of data, pedagogical observation, pedagogical testing, anthropometric research methods, functional methods of cardiorespiratory system research and methods of mathematical statistics. It was found out that most of the physical development indicators of the girls surveyed are in compliance with the normative, and do not need additional influence or deliberate correction of body weight. In addition, the necessity to make additional changes to the curricula of different faculties in the discipline of "Physical Education" for the students during their second year of study was substantiated: − in classes of "Physical Education" for technical faculties, it is necessary to deliberately develop the speed qualities and the explosive strength of the lower limbs; − in classes of "Physical Education" for the students of the faculty of Architecture, the emphasis should be put on the development of endurance, as well as to further development of the strength of the upper limbs. In the course of the study it was proved that the students can get physical education according to the curricula of the second-year students of low-level physical fitness and do not require any special rehabilitation measures and significant restrictions in the training process.
