Diffusion constants of helium in gold, silver and aluminium are determined from thermal desorption experiments, giving: Au: DO = 10-1.0 cm2/sec, AH = 1.70 eV Ag: DO : 10-1.2 cm2/sec, AH = 1.50 eV Al: DO = cmz/sec, AH = 1.35 eV The results are compared to self-diffusion and to the diffusion of other light elements in metals. Possible diffusion mechanisms are discussed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
