To obtain the necessary degree of removal of magnesite dust from gas to a level of 99% in standard type UG electric filters, as the results of production tests have shown, it is necessary to reduce the velocity of the gas in the apparatus to 0.5-0.7 m/sec, that is, to increase the time of the gas in the filter to 14-20 sec [I]. Such a method is an extreme measure and leads to an increase in capital and operating costs. For the purpose of acceleration of the process of removal of high resistance dusts in electric filters, the Scientific-Research Institute for Purification of Gas has conducted a combination of scientific-research work on development of a special system of combined corona electrodes. Each combined electrode creates in the intere!ectrode space of the apparatus zones of corona discharge and of an electrostatic field. In the zone of the corona discharge charging of the dust particles occurs primarily while in the zone of the electrostatic field, where the reverse corona is absent, favorable conditions for intense settling of dust are created. In an electric filter with combined corona electrodes the dust being cleaned passes through repeated alternating zones of corona discharge and of an electrostatic field. On the basis of investigations made the Scientific-Research Institute for Purification of Gas has developed a working design for an experimental (primary) electric filter with combined corona electrodes, The Experimental Gas Cleaning Apparatus Plant (Semibratovo Village, Yaroslav Region) has built two models of the electric filter, which were installed after No. 2 rotating kiln of No. 2 Magnesite Powder Shop of Magnesite Combine.Interdepartmental tests were made of the electric filter with combined corona electrodes in firing of the kiln with natural gas, During the whole test period the kiln operated on a mixture of 30% raw material and 70% dust caught by cyclones and electric filters (caustic dust). The content of the components was determined on the basis of the discharge from the kiln,The purpose of the tests consisted of determining the optimum operating conditions of the electric filter, a comparison of the effectiveness of its operation with type UG apparatus, and determining the desirability of installation in production of electric filters with combined corona electrodes for removal of high resistance dust from gases.No. 2 shop of Magnesite Combine is equipped with rotating kilns with a diam. of 4.5 m and a length of 170 m. The exhaust gases at 650~ are exhausted from the kiln through a dust chamber into a KU-125 waste heat boiler, in which they are cooled to 220-240~Then the gases are cleaned in two batteries of TsN-24 cyclones. Each battery consists of six cyclones. As the second stage of cleaning of gases after No. 2 kiln three PGD-4-38 electric filters were initially installed.Subsequently, the internal equipment in the two PGD-4-38 units was replaced by new experimental electric filters with combined corona electrodes. The experimental electric filter with combined corona electrodes develope...
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
