The problem of poverty in Indonesia is still unresolved to date. Related to the problem of poverty, ideas emerge in an effort to alleviate poverty that focuses on empowerment, entrepreneurship and deacons. These three ideas of thought can lead to dangers, including: empowerment and entrepreneurship can trigger the spirit of capitalism which can lead to greed and high egocentrism. Whereas deacons can make people keep silent without the effort to move out of poverty. So that the three concepts of poverty alleviation do not fall into this danger, it is necessary to provide a basis for thinking about the theology of ownership and the function of wealth. One of the books that could provide a prospect for rationale is the book of Luke. The book of Luke leaves ample room for discussion of the theology of property and function of wealth. In this paper, the author uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive analysis method. The result of this research is that the book of Luke contributes thoughts about the theology of ownership and the function of wealth. His contribution is that in Luke's writings there is a systemic pattern that was born from the theology of property and function of wealth. This systemic pattern can contribute to the idea that the church can create a poverty alleviation system that not only works on an individualistic level, but also has a communal dimension that involves poor and rich people in order to create a community without social disparities.
Harvey J. Sindima observed Liberation Theology as it flourished in Latin America, Africa, Asia, and the United States. The social situation in that society has some similarities in Luke's community. According to Philip Francis Esler's research, Luke's theology seeks to answer the social situation in Luke's community, especially regarding the relationship between the rich and the poor. This study aims to review Sindima's review of Liberation Theology based on Philip Francis Esler's thoughts on the relationship between rich and poor in Luke's Gospel. In Sindima's writings, the involvement of the rich has not been found as an effort to minimize the suffering of the poor. In this study, the author uses an analytical method. The result is that the good news for the poor in Liberation Theology is in line with the good news in Luke's Gospel. Moreover, in Luke's Gospel the liberation of the poor is not only the responsibility of the poor themselves as in the Theology of Liberation in Sindima's description, but also the responsibility of the rich as part of a sharing community.
The problem of poverty in Indonesia is faced by all religious people, including Christians and Muslims. Each of the Christians and Muslims has had efforts to overcome poverty, the implementation of which occurs in each of these religious communities. In this case, cooperation is needed so that both can work together to overcome poverty. Therefore, a common basis is needed in building this cooperation. This paper intends to propose this common basis through the interpretations of Luke 18:18-27 and Al Baqarah [2]:261-274. Both of these texts have the potential to contribute ideas in overcoming poverty. The result of this research is that both in Luke 18:18-27 and in Al Baqarah [2]:262-274 there is an obligation to distribute wealth to the poor. Thus, this concept can be used as a joint basis in order to create cooperation between Christians and Muslims to cope with poverty in Indonesia.
