The study has examined the Influence of strategic planning in improving academics in public Diploma Teachers Colleges in Tanzania. The study used mixed research methods, under concurrent triangulation design. The purpose of using this design was to bring together the differing strengths and non-overlapping weaknesses of quantitative methods with those of qualitative methods. The sample sizes of 10 colleges out of 35 public teachers Colleges with 140 respondents out of the entire population were selected for the research. The study sample comprised 30 Department Leaders, 10 College Principals/Vice Principals and 100 tutors. The study used three sampling techniques which were simple random sampling, stratified random sampling, and convenience sampling. Data were collected through interview guide, document analysis guide; observation and questionnaires and Quantitative data were analyzed through descriptive statistics and presented using frequency, distribution tables, and percentages and inferentially using Pearson correlation. The qualitative data was summarized, coded and analyzed by the research questions. Pilot testing of the research instruments were conducted in one of the teachers' college where the targeted respondents were given a questionnaire and interview guide. The findings of the study revealed that, majority of colleges that had put a strategic plan in place and incorporate students' academic issues had made considerable value-added progress on their students' academic performance.

This study examined the influence of teachers’ remuneration package items on their job dedication in public secondary schools in Arusha region, Tanzania. The study was guided by Expectancy Theory by Vroom 1964. The researcher adopted convergent research design under mixed methods approach. The target population 5057 and the sample 513 respondents. Probability and non-probability sampling techniques were used to sample research participants. Data collection instruments were questionnaires, interview schedule and interview guides. Instruments were reviewed by five research experts in MWECAU and proved valid for the study. Reliability of the questionnaire were tested by using Cronbach’s Alpha Technique; while reliability of qualitative data was done by triangulation. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze quantitative data. Descriptive statistics summarized data into frequencies, percentages, mean scores. Inferential statistics Pearson Correlation was used to test the hypotheses. Qualitative data were thematically analyzed. The study found that no single item in teachers’ remuneration package was effectively offered by the employer and the status of teachers’ job dedication was below average. The study concluded that low level of teachers’ job dedication was due to ineffective provision of different items of teachers’ remuneration package. The study recommended the MoEST to offer effectively each item of teachers’ remuneration package consistently to induce teachers’ dedication to their job in public secondary schools in Arusha region, Tanzania.
Institutional linkages has been a demand for all universities in the world. Higher Education Development Programme (HEDP) was meant to cater for this fundamental purpose. This study therefore aimed at finding out the extensiveness of HEDP on enabling institutional linkages of universities in the Northern Zone Tanzania. The study was anchored to the Value-Added-Theory. Convergent design under the mixed research paradigm lead the study. The target population for the study was 18,601 respondents from eight (8) Universities in the Northern Zone of Tanzania. This comprised of 5,118 final year bachelor degree students, 483 lecturers, 8 DVC-academics, 12,292 alumni and 100 employers. The study sample comprised of 697 respondents from which 511 were final year bachelor degree students, 48 lecturers, 4 DVC academics, 124 alumni and 10 employers. Sampling techniques included stratified random, purposive and automatic inclusion. Data collected through questionnaires, indepth interview guides and document analysis guides. Validity of quantitative data collection instruments was ensured through content and face validity while for qualitative was ensured through explanation of the purpose of study and ensuring equal time for each interview. Internal consistency of Likert type items was estimated through Cronbach Alpha, while the dependability of qualitative items was ensured through triangulation. Quantitative data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics where frequencies, percentages, and means were determined. Qualitative data was analyzed through transcription of texts, generate themes, interpret, discuss and making conclusions. The study found that, HEDP is to some extent known to students and alumni for its purpose of establishing linkages. The study concluded that HEDP has to the lower extent achieved the goal of ensuring institutional linkages. The study recommended that universities should conduct periodic review and reform programmes to cater for the needs of the current demands of 21st century soft skills.
