India is rapidly becoming digitally empowered, transforming the paradigm from paper to digital. Agriculture is not an exception to the availability of information on social media for users, establishing a communication link between farmers, extension agents and agricultural institutions. The study was undertaken in 2021 in the Gandhinagar district of Gujarat State to assess farmers’ knowledge about social media. According to the findings, 65.00 per cent of farmers had a high level of knowledge about social media usage. Education, occupation, annual income, innovativeness, scientific orientation, use of ICT tools, use of social media platforms and information-seeking behaviour were positively and significantly correlated. At the same time, age and farming experience were negatively and significantly related to their knowledge of social media. Thus, to harness the outcome of the current trend of the behaviour of the farmers, policymakers working in the field of farmer capacity building might use the research findings to determine the content and approach of ICT programmes. Also, the results can be considered to create more farmer focused social media platforms.
Despite scientific proof of the benefits and effects of fish consumption on human health, most Indians consume less than the recommended dietary amounts. The current study attempted to assess the knowledge gap of fish eaters regarding the health and nutritional benefits, along with identifying the factors that directly and indirectly influence the knowledge level of fish consumers. The fish eaters were surveyed during the F.Y. 2021–2022 with representative samples of 934 fish consumers from across ten districts of the Gujarat state in western India. Fish consumers were found to have insufficient knowledge about health and nutritional benefits, which stalled the growth of fish consumption in the region. The significant factors influencing the knowledge level of fish consumers were education qualification, fish quality evaluation criteria, number of children in a family, years of fish consumption and family size. The consumers were found to place greater emphasis on the fish quality evaluation parameters such as smell, appearance, nutritional value, product price and freshness. The study’s outcomes suggested that mass awareness programs should be planned to achieve higher levels of fish consumption in the region and the country.
When assessing farmers’ predispositions and developing a strategy for extension work in the region, the attitude of farmers toward conservation agriculture is a crucial consideration. The purpose of this study was to develop a valid and reliable instrument for assessing farmers’ attitudes toward conservation agriculture. The scale product method is used to construct the scale. It is a hybrid of the Likert and Thurstone techniques. The study was conducted in March 2022. On a 5-point scale, 65 judges evaluated 25 statements. Finally, 18 statements including 14 positive statements and 4 negative statements were chosen to build a scale that would assess the attitude of farmers towards conservation agriculture. The scale was found reliable, with the reliability coefficient (r) (Guttman split-half Coefficient and Spearman-Brown Coefficient Equal Length) determined to be 0.917. The scale’s validity was evaluated using expert judgement. Employing the scale in research will aid in knowing farmers’ attitudes about conservation agriculture.
