-(Desmid flora (Zygnemaphyceae, Desmidiales) of the Cascavel River, Western Paraná State, Brazil). This study aimed to perform the taxonomic survey of desmids of an important lotic ecosystem in the western region of Paraná State. Samples were collected monthly (July 2010 to June 2011), in three sampling stations from the Cascavel River, resulting in the identification of 60 taxa, belonging to 10 genera. The Cosmarium Corda ex Ralfs (29) and Closterium Nitzsch ex Ralfs (10) obtained the largest number of inventoried species. A total of 14 new citations were recorded for the Paraná State, distributed among genera Actinotaenium (Nägeli) Teiling (2), Cosmarium (7), Closterium (1), Micrasterias C. Agardh ex Ralfs (1), Pleurotaenium Nägeli (1), Staurastrum Meyen (1) and Staurodesmus Teiling (1). At the end of the study was observed that the total number of species identified, 83.9% were common to all three stations collected, 13.3% were recorded in the sampling stations 2 and 3, and 3.3% only at station 3.
-(The genus Cosmarium Corda ex Ralfs (Desmidiaceae) in the Itaipu Reservoir, PR, Brazil). The study aimed to survey the flora of the Cosmarium genera on a tributary of Itaipu dam in western Paraná State. Samples were collected monthly from the biological community in five sampling stations in the limnetic region of the São Francisco Falso river tributary, Santa Helena, Paraná, between July 2003 and June 2004. Were used as criteria of occurrence of taxa in the samples constancies accidental, incidental and constant. The inventory resulted in the identification, description and illustration of 23 taxa, including 10 at the specific,13 infraspecific level, and of these, seven varieties typical of their species and six varieties not typical of their species, and taxonomic two forms. The vast majority of taxa surveyed (69.5%) had an accidental constancy, and the remaining species (30.5%) represented by the constant accessory. There wasn't occurrence of constant taxa.
-(Chlorococcales sensu latu (Chlorophyceae) from a subtropical lotic ecosystem, Paraná State, Brazil). This study aimed to perform the taxonomic survey of Chlorococcales from Cascavel River, municipality of Cascavel, Paraná State, Brazil. Samples of the biological material (periphytic, metaphytic and phytoplanktonic) were collected monthly from July 2010 to June 2011, in three sampling stations along of the river. This paper resulted in the identification of 30 taxa, belonging to 16 genera (Desmodesmus (8) and Pediastrum (4) were the ones that presented the largest number of species) and six taxonomic families. A total of five new citations were recorded for the Paraná State: Chlorotetraedron incus (Teiling) Kom, Desmodesmus pseudodenticulatus (Hegew.) Hegew., Dictyosphaerium chlorelloides (Naum.) Kom. & Perm., Oocystis marssonii Lemm. and Pediastrum duplex var. gracillimum West & G.S. West.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
