Aus den dargestellten Ergebnissen läßt sich Summary:' · 50 ambulant test persons without signs of diabetes mellitus at the time of examination underwent an oral glucose tolerance test three times in varying intervals. The preparation of the persons for the function test took place unter strictly defined conditions. For every single test person the 2 hour value showed the smallest variance in respect to the difference between the highest and lowest glucose concentration. The median at this time was found to be 0.31 mmol/l with the 2.5 percent!le at 0.06 mmol/l and the 97.5 percent!le at 0.56 mmol/l. At all other sampling times the glucose concentrations varied much more. The conclusion of the results shown in this paper is that it is only efficient to carry out an oral glucose tolerance test if the conditions for the preparation of the patient and the performance of the test are defined exactly.
