ChemInform Abstract Unexpectedly, the complex (I) is obtained when the title compound is allowed to react with K in toluene at 75 rc C and extracted subsequently with Et2O. Using K (or Li) diphenylamide or LiNPhBu the cleavage of the Co-Co bond leads to the formation of (I) + (II) (in ether) or (IIIa)-(IIIc) (in benzene), resp. (evidence of threefold coordination in (I) and (III), transition of trigonal to (pseudo) tetrahedral symmetry; effective magnetic moments).
