ABSTRACT Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is the most common musculoskeletal system problem worldwide, the impact of RA causing discomfort, pain, limited mobility, and the risk of disability and paralysis. An effective physical activity program highly recommended for RA sufferers is rheumatic gymnastics, which has been proven to reduce pain scales for RA sufferers. Based on preliminary studies, RA patients do not know how to do rheumatic gymnastics to reduce joint pain. The introduction and intervention of rheumatic gymnastics for patients with RA in the Pulau Pinang Health Center need to be carried out as a physical activity program to reducing the pain scale for the sufferer of RA. The method used is conducting a preliminary study, collaboration with health workers, community leaders, and cadres in the Pulau Pinang Health Center area, implementing activities by providing training by watching videos and practicing rheumatic gymnastic, and then monitoring before and after the intervention using Numerical Rating scale (NRS) observation. The result was that after being given rheumatic exercise for one month, with one activity per week in 8 minutes duration, there was a decrease in the pain scale of 15 participants who experienced moderate pain to mild pain. Rheumatic gymnastics can affect the work of the cerebral cortex, including cognitive and emotional aspects, providing positive perceptions and relaxation, which has an impact on feelings of happiness and reduces pain. Objective: With the advancement of technology, disaster preparedness related to hurricane hazards can be taught through an app. This study aimed to examine the effect of using an android-based disaster preparedness app on community knowledge and intentional behavior in hurricane risk areas. Methods: A quasi-experimental study was conducted from October to November, 2020 and a total of 80 respondents were recruited using cluster sampling. The treatment group was given the intervention in the form of the disaster preparedness app for 2 weeks. Meanwhile, the control group received home visits and conventional education about hurricane disasters twice throughout the same period. We then used a Wilcoxon Signed Rank test to analyze the pre-test and post-test and a Mann-Whitney U test to compare between treatment and control groups. Results: After the implementation of the SiBen app, we found a statistically significant difference in knowledge between treatment and control groups (P < 0.003) and intentional behavior between treatment and control groups (P < 0.001). Conclusion: The findings indicate that the disaster preparedness app was an effective educational program able to improve the knowledge and intentional behavior among community members in a hurricane risk area.
Based on statistical data, most cardiac arrests occur Out-of-hospital. However, community knowledge about first aid for cardiac arrest or Basic Life Support (BLS) is deficient. An out-of-hospital cardiac arrest requires prompt treatment, and just before the patient is taken to the hospital for definitive treatment. Accuracy and speed are the keys to saving people with cardiac arrest. Increasing knowledge regarding cardiac arrest management out-of-hospital becomes essential in creating bystanders in the community who can perform BLS properly. This BLS training activity is carried out by providing bystanders with simulation and practice methods. The result in this activity is shown by increasing the average value of participants' knowledge before and after participating in simulations and practices BLS for helping victims of cardiac arrest outside the hospital. Furthermore, it will be aware from the government to present a simple community-based system as an initial flow of help for cardiac arrest patients, which can facilitate the flow of reporting cardiac arrest events and their appropriate and fast handling. Introduction: Cardiac arrest is a situation that can lead to death if CPR is not immediately assisted. The chances of survival increase if the victims are directly helped by people nearby or CPR bystanders rather than waiting for the medical team to arrive. Training CPR bystanders requires large resources, including expensive CPR mannequins as a simulation medium. Creativity is needed to create cheap CPR simulation media with good feasibility. Objective: The study aimed to construct and test the effect of the CPR Pillow to improve the CPR skill in Lubuklinggau, South Sumatra, Indonesia. Method: Research and Development (R&D) with experimental tests, pre-test, and post-tests were applied in this study. Forty people were given two meetings within two weeks. Skill was measured by how the subject performed hand's-only CPR using the CPR Operational Procedure checklist. Result: The result of this study is the creation of a low-cost CPR pillow design that meets the eligibility as a low-fidelity simulation medium for CPR skills. The data analysis using the paired t-test showed a significant effect of CPR training using CPR Pillows on the trainees' hand's-only CPR skills (t=-37,749) with a value of p=0.000. Recommendation: This CPR pillow can be used as a hand's-only CPR simulation medium. CPR simulation using this CPR pillow is a low-fidelity simulation. There is a positive influence related to CPR training using this CPR pillow on the hands-only CPR skills of the trainees
