Asymmetric Hydrogenation of β-Keto Sulfonamides and β-Keto Sulfones with a Chiral Cationic Ruthenium Diamine Catalyst. -The highly efficient asymmetric reduction of title compounds (I), (III), and (V) using a phosphine-free chiral Ru-complex furnishing corresponding β-hydroxy sulfonamides and -sulfones (II), (IV), and (VI), resp., is described. In addition, a cascade asymmetric hydrogenation/dynamic kinetic resolution of racemic cyclic sulfonamides and sulfones (VII) is also realized.
