Review of the Isolation Dimension of the Dimensional Clinical Personality Inventory AbstractThe present study aimed to review the Isolation dimension of the Dimensional Clinical Personality Inventory (DCPI). The method was divided in two steps, the fi rst focused on developing new items based on the literature, and the second for testing the psychometric properties of the new items dataset. The DCPI plus the Revised NEO Personality Inventory (NEO-PI-R) and the Personality Inventory for DSM-5 (PID-5) were applied in a sample of 213 subjects aging between 18 and 69 years (M = 25.56; SD = 8.70), with predominance of women (74.3%) The fi rst step resulted in 39 items, of which 28 were new. The second stage results on a composite of 18 items, in four interpretable factors based on the internal structure analysis, Individualism, Social Isolation, Intimacy Avoidance and Emotional Apathy with internal consistency coeffi cients of .88 for total, and higher then .75 for each factor. The correlations of the scale with NEO-PI-R and PID-5 revealed consistent and expected effect sizes. The data reveal the adequacy of the new Isolation dimension of DCPI.
This study aimed to review IDCP's (Dimensional Clinical Personality Inventory) Isolation dimension. Its method was divided into two Parts, the fi rst of which focused on developing new items based on literature, and the second one tested the new set of items' psychometric properties. IDCP, the Revised NEO Personality Inventory (NEO-PI-R), and Personality Inventory for DSM-5 (PID-5) were applied in a population of 213 subjects aged between 18 and 69 years old (M= 25.56, SD= 8.70), most of which were women (74.3%). Part I resulted in a total of 39 items, including 28 new ones. Part II resulted in a total of 18 items in four interpretable factors based on internal structure analysis. Items were: Individualism, Social Isolation, Intimacy Avoidance and Emotional Apathy. These items presented total internal consistency coeffi cient of .88 and individual factor internal consistency coeffi cient higher than .75. Dimension correlations to NEO-PI-R and PID-5 showed coherent and expected numbers. Data show this new IDCP Isolation dimension to be acceptable. Keywords: Psychological assessment, personality traits, psychometrics, personality disorders, DSM-5. Revisão da Dimensão Isolamento do
The aim of this research was to investigate, in a non-clinical sample, whether symptoms of anxiety and depression are associated with pathological personality traits. The hypotheses were that individuals with more pathological personality characteristics would also present more symptoms of anxiety and depression; and that people with more symptoms of depression or more symptoms of anxiety have specific personality profiles. The sample consisted of 106 participants, older than 18 years (M=24.3, SD=5.71), of both genders (65 women; 61.3%). For evaluation, we used the Dimensional Clinical Personality Inventory (IDCP), which assesses pathological characteristics of personality in 12 dimensions, and the Brazilian versions of the Beck Depression Inventory and the Beck Anxiety Inventory. These data corroborate the hypotheses and help in understanding the personality profile of people from the general population who have more symptoms of anxiety and depression.
This study aimed to evaluate and compare pathological personality traits in meditation practitioners and non-practitioners. Therefore, data were collected from 104 participants of both sexes aged over 18 years, including 53 practitioners of concentrative and mindfulness meditation styles, and 51 non-practitioners. Participants responded to the Dimensional Clinical Personality Inventory (IDCP), the Brazilian version of the Personality Inventory for DSM-5 (PID-5), and an anamnesis questionnaire about the practice of meditation; we proceeded to repeated ANOVA measures and logistic regression analysis to verify the study's goals. Overall, higher means were observed for non-practitioners in the dimensions/factors of the tests, and specific pathological traits as best predictors of the participating groups (practitioners versus non-practitioners). The results indicated that the meditators tended to have lower intensity of pathological personality traits.
