Mathematical models and their parameters are essential when designing controllers because they allow the designer to predict the closed loop behavior of the system. An accurate method for estimating the DC Motor-Gear-Alternator (MGA) system parameters is needed before constructing the reliable model. This paper proposed a new method of parameter estimation using Matlab/Simulink parameter estimation tool via Step Response Methodology. Optimization algorithms including the nonlinear least square, Gradient Descent, Simplex Search and Pattern Search are discussed. Simulink Design Optimization automatically estimated parameters of the MGA model from measured input-output data.
The magnetic hydrodynamic free convective flow past an infinite stretching porous sheet at constant density for electrically conducting fluid with viscous dissipation was numerically studied. The study revolved around an unsteady two-dimensional free convective laminar flow through a porous medium with the interaction of magnetic area standard to the stream. The graphs represented the effects of material parameters on the temperature and velocity profiles across the fluid boundary layer. The solutions of partial differential equations obtained numerically using an implicit finite difference method for various values of (nu), numbers (0.5 to 0.7) at a constant thermal conductivity (kappa=0.1). The velocity and temperature of MHD flow increased with an increase in viscous dissipation and vice versa.
Mathematical models and there parameters are essential for designers to predict the close loop behaviors of the plant so that systems are stable. A block model is develop in the MATLAB/simulink for the DC Motor-Gear-AC-Generator mathematical model in this paper, the block built is used to estimate the parameters in the estimation node using the gradient descent, simplex search and nonlinear least square algorithm. Gradient descent curve match that of the experimental data and its values are used in the DC Motor-Gear-AC Generator mathematical model.
