ASHP has designed the Residency Learning Sys tem (RLS) to be a standard for pharmacy practice residencies. Key features of the RLS include: for mal goal statements, specific learning objectives for each goal, standard evaluation procedures, and formal feedback to residents. During adaptation of the Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC) Pharmacy Practice Residency to the RLS, the pro gram for the specialty residency in oncology phar macy practice was also revised to conform to the RLS format. The review resulted in the complete revision of all oncology residency core rotation outlines and creation of a new mandatory rota tion. WRAMC's oncology residency goals and objectives were screened against ASHP's Goals, Terminal and Enabling Objectives for Oncology Specialty Residencies. Each oncology rotation requirement now identifies the specific Resi dency Goal(s) and Objective(s) covered. The procedures described may serve as a model for other specialty residency programs faced with the need to make revisions in their syllabuses to meet evolving residency standards.
