The use of RFID systems as sensing and identification systems is increasing in the last years. Along the reduction of costs, the study of RFID technology needs more research about the effects of temperature, humidity, altitude, vibration and some materials on its readability and operability. The effects of temperature and some materials in the performance of short dipole antennas and RFID UHF passive tags are presented in this paper, using simulations and measurements. It has been found that all the materials affected the antenna's performance. The effects of the temperature in the read range of five RFID UHF passive tags were measured with different temperatures and the relation between read range and temperature was verified.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
