In this paper, based on monitoring data from 18 deep excavation cases in soft soil area in Shanghai, the depth of basal heave (H R ), the width of settlement zone (B s ), the maximum ground settlement (δ vm ) and lateral deflection of retaining wall (δ hm ) are studied. First, it is found that H R is the depth where the unloading ratio is 0.15. Second, B s is found to be closely related to the volume of excavation and the depth of basal heave. Then two simple methods are proposed for the prediction of B s . At last, the relation between maximum deformation and construction time is studied. And the objective construction time is suggested.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
