Before each interview, I asked my interlocutors if our interviews could be recorded; although not all wished to be recorded, they all agreed that I take notes during our conversations, which I then reconstructed into narratives. All interviews with Chinese took place at the women's workplace, while business was slow so as not to interrupt their livelihood. Depending on the interviewee's desires and capacities, interviews were carried out in Spanish, English or Mandarin. The excerpts used for this chapter were translated by the author into English. All interviews carried out with Mexicans were recorded. For more information about the methodological aspect of these research, see X.
