A Pt@TNT catalyst with Pt nanoparticles entrapped in titanate nanotubes (TNT) was prepared by hydrophobic modification of the exterior surface of the TNT and impregnation with hexachloroplatinic acid (H2PtCl6) aqueous solution. The catalyst's enhanced activity towards the hydrogenation of phenol (as high as ∼3200 gphenol h(-1) gPt(-1) of qTOF) can be ascribed to the confinement effect.
Lipase production and cell growth of Serratia marcescens ECU1010 were optimized in shake flasks, with lipase production being enhanced 9.5-fold (4,780 U/l) compared with the initial activity (500 U/l). Optimal carbon and nitrogen sources were Tween-80 and peptone, and the optimal ratio of Tween-80 to peptone was 1:3. The optimized cultivation conditions were 25 degrees C and pH 6.5. Lipase activity, particularly specific activity, could be improved by decreasing the cultivation temperature from 35 to 25 degrees C. Enzyme stability was significantly improved by simple immobilization with synthetic adsorption resin no. 8244. After five reaction cycles, enzyme activity decreased only very slightly, while enantioselectivity of the preparation remained constant, and the ees (enantiomeric excess of the remaining substrate) achieved in all cases was higher than 97%. The resin-8244-lipase preparation can be used for efficient enantioselective hydrolysis of trans-3-(4'-methoxyphenyl)glycidic acid methyl ester [(+/-)-MPGM], a key intermediate in the synthesis of Diltiazem.
A novel ZnO/CdS/TiO 2 nanorod array composite structure was fabricated by depositing CdS-sensitized layer onto ZnO nanorod arrays via chemical bathing deposition and subsequently coated by TiO 2 protection layer via a vacuum dip-coating process. The films were characterized by x-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectrum, and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. For the films severed as the photoanodes, linear sweep voltammetry and transient photocurrent (i ph) were investigated in a three-electrode system. The photoelectrocatalytic activity was evaluated by the degradation of methylene blue (MB) under visible light irradiation. The results show that the oriented ZnO nanorods are adhered by relatively uniform CdS-sensitized layer and coated with TiO 2 layer. Both the coated and uncoated CdSsensitized ZnO nanorod arrays exhibit the visible light response and the photoelectrocatalytic activity on the degradation of MB under visible light irradiation. The ZnO/ CdS/TiO 2 nanorod array film possesses stable and superior photoelectrocatalytic performance owing to the TiO 2 thin layer protecting the CdS from photocorrosion.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
