We present two preliminary experimental investigations of the amplification of a 1064-nm master oscillation power amplification configuration ytterbiumdoped double-clad fiber laser pumped with two newwavelength pump sources, namely 1000 and 1014-nm laser diodes. The power output of the amplified signal reached 4.8 W pumped at 1000 nm and 2.708 W at 1014 nm with an extraction efficiency of 42.6 and 29.8 %, respectively. Combined with simulations, the experimental results also indicate that the efficiency of the amplification can be further improved with a higher pump power. To the best of our knowledge, we report, for the first time, amplification pumped using 1000 and 1014-nm sources.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
