We propose to shape biphoton wave packets with an electromagnetically induced grating in a four-level double-cold atomic system. We show that the induced hybrid grating plays an essential role in directing the new fields into different angular positions, especially for the zeroth-order diffraction. A number of interesting features appears in the shaped two-photon wave forms. For example, broadening or narrowing the spectrum would be possible in the proposed scheme even without the use of a cavity.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
