Objetivo: evaluar el nivel de conciencia fonológica de los niños y niñas del grado primero de la Institución Educativa Rural José Antonio Galán, sedes Bajo Corinto y Maracas, como prerrequisito para el aprendizaje de la lectura convencional. Metodología:investigación de enfoque cuantitativo con diseño descriptivo, mediante la aplicación de la prueba EGRA (Early Grade Reading Assessment), que permite valorar el dominio de competencias indispensables para el aprendizaje de la lectura convencional. Hallazgos: ha sido posible determinar cómo los bajos niveles de desarrollo de la conciencia fonológica se relacionan con el nivel de adquisición del proceso de lectura convencional alcanzado por cada sujeto. Conclusiones: el nivel de desarrollo de la conciencia fonológica en la mayoría de la población evaluada, es silábico. Es necesario dar continuidad desde el área de psicología a la indagación en este contexto por las situaciones emergentes sobre la población y las problemáticas identificadas desde sus dinámicas relacionales.Palabras claves: procesamiento fonológico, conciencia fonológica y lectura convencional. PHONOLOGIC CONSCIENCE IN THE CONVENTIONAL LEARNING OF READING IN A GROUP OF 5-8 YEARS OLD CHILDRENObjective: to assess the phonologic conscience level of children from first grade at Institución Educativa Rural José Antonio Galán, sedes Bajo Corinto y Maracas, as pre-requisite for the conventional reading learning. Methodology: investigation of quantitative approach with descriptive design, through the EGRA test (Early Grade Reading Assessment) that allows assessing the command of fundamental competences for conventional reading learning. Findings: it has been possible to determinate how low levels of development of phonologic conscience are related to the conventional reading acquisition process obtained by each person. Conclusions: the level of development of phonologic conscience in most of the evaluated population is syllabic. It is necessary to give continuity from the psychology area to the inquiry in this context for the emergence situations in the population and identified problematic from relational dynamics.
