Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19). In 2020, a new type of coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) was spread, called a disease called Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This virus was discovered in Wuhan, China for the first time and has infected 90,308 people as of March 2, 2020. The number of deaths reached 3,087 people or 6%, the number of patients recovering 45,726 people. This type of single positive RNA strain infects the human respiratory tract and is sensitive to heat and can effectively be activated by chlorine-containing disinfectants. The source of the host is thought to come from animals, especially bats, and other vectors such as bamboo rats, camels and ferrets. Common symptoms include fever, cough and difficulty breathing. Clinical syndrome is divided into uncomplicated, mild pneumonia and severe pneumonia. Specimen examination is taken from the throat swab (nasopharynx and oropharynx) and lower airway (sputum, bronchial rinse, endotracheal aspirate). Isolation was carried out on patients proven to be infected with Covid-19 to prevent wider spread.
This study generally aims to develop VideoScribe-based learning media to improve the ability in writing descriptive text in English subjects. The development model used in this study is a combination of Borg and Gall development research steps, and the design of 4D-Thiagarajan learning model includes initial research and information gathering, planning stages, design stages, development stages, revision, and final product stages. The techniques of data collection in this study were carried out through indirect communications and test. Data collection tools used was questionnaires, observation’s sheet, and performance tests. The results showed that the design of instructional media development in this study consisted of (1) The design of the development of learning media was conducted using the modified models Borg and Gall and 4D Thiagarajan. (2) The application of VideoScribe-based learning media through activity as follows a) preparation, b) introduction, d) Evaluation, e) closing. (3) After applying VideoScribe-based learning media to improve students’ ability on writing Descriptive Text in English subjects and conducted pretest and posttest, it can be concluded that there is an increase in students' ability in writing Descriptive Text before and after the use of learning media.

This research used a descriptive method to explore the needs of tenth grade students in learning English writing. In order to achieve this purpose, classroom observation, questionnaire, and interview were conducted to collect the data. In addition, several related documents such as 2013 curriculum, syllabus, the current English textbook used were analyzed. The results showed that the students are in intermediate level. Moreover, they had difficulties to write in correct grammar. Furthermore, there was also a need to provide the topics related to art and culture and daily life in the language material. Malay culture became the choice of the students to be the theme of their learning material. Moreover, the learning material needed to be completed with the teacher’s book which could give guidance to the teacher about the instruction or method that could be used in the classroom. Finally, the findings would be used as the base for developing the English writing material.
Online learning readiness has become crucial and needs to be considered to support E-learning from various perspectives. This article sought to discover the E-learning Readiness (ELR) factors from students’ perspectives during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Fifty-two seventh-grade Junior High School students in Indonesia participated in this study. This quantitative research used thirty-nine items in a questionnaire as the data collection instrument modified from Teddy and Swatman’s (2006) model known as E-learning Readiness (ELR) factors. The model utilized six factors, namely (1) students’ readiness, (2) teachers’ readiness, (3) internet access supports, (4) management supports, (5) school culture, and (6) E-learning tendencies. The findings indicated that the students’ readiness toward E-learning had an ELR score of 69%, which means they were ready for E-learning but needed slight improvement. The results showed students experienced difficulties (i.e., they were untrained in operating electronic devices, the devices lagged during the online teaching-learning process, and they had trouble following the English material due to the lack of instruction from English teachers) in implementing E-learning. The writer concluded that the student readiness towards E-learning was considered capable and ready but required some improvement from various aspects.
