Objective Subjects with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) may revert to normal cognition (NC), but predictive factors are under study. We therefore sought to identify factors which could help in predicting reversion from MCI to NC. Methods Relevant studies were retrieved from PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, MEDLINE, Web of Science, EBSCO, and OVID. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, high‐quality assessments of relevant literatures were conducted, followed by data extraction and meta‐analysis with Stata 12.0 software. Results A total of 17 studies with 6829 participants were included in the meta‐analysis. The overall reversion rate is 27.57%. Positive predictive factors were found in younger age (SMD = −0.345, 95% CI, −0.501 to −0.189), higher education level (SMD = 0.337, 95% CI, 0.117‐0.558), no APOE ε4 allele (OR = 0.728, 95% CI, 0.575‐0.922), no hypertension (OR = 0.826, 95% CI, 0.692‐0.987), no stroke (OR = 0.696, 95% CI, 0.507‐0.953), and higher Mini‐Mental State Examination (MMSE) score (SMD = 0.707, 95% CI, 0.461‐0.953). Conclusion Individuals who are at young age, have higher education level and MMSE score, and have no APOEe4 allele, no hypertension, and no stroke had a high probability to revert from MCI to NC.

Recently, we reported that human amniotic membrane-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AMMs) possess great angiogenic potential. In this study, we determined whether local injection of AMMs ameliorates peripheral neuropathy. AMMs were transplanted into injured sciatic nerves. AMM injection promoted significant recovery of motor nerve conduction velocity and voltage amplitude compared to human adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells. AMM implantation also augmented blood perfusion and increased intraneural vascularity. Whole-mount fluorescent imaging analysis demonstrated that AMMs exhibited higher engraftment and endothelial incorporation abilities in the sciatic nerve. In addition, the higher expression of pro-angiogenic factors was detected in AMMs injected into the peripheral nerve. Therefore, these data provide novel therapeutic and mechanistic insights into stem cell biology, and AMM transplantation may represent an alternative therapeutic option for treating peripheral neuropathy.

Review question / Objective: Exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation (EBCR) has been demonstrated to improve functional capacity in heart failure (HF). However, there are limited data on the effect of EBCR in children with advanced HF and left ventricular assist devices (LVADs). This metaanalysis sought to evaluate the effects of EBCR on functional capacity in patients with LVAD. Condition being studied: L eft ventricular assist devices (LVADs) are being increasingly used to support children with advanced heart failure (HF), both as a bridge to recovery and as destination therapy. It is well-known that LVADs improve survival, functional capacity, and quality of life (QOL) in children with advanced HF. However, compared with recipients of heart transplants, many patients with LVADs continue to experience exercise intolerance. Exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation (EBCR) has been shown to be safe and effective in patients with HF. Exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation • improves peak oxygen uptake (V o2), functional capacity, and QOL and reduces HF symptoms and hospitalizations. However, there are very limited data on the safety and efficacy of EBCR in child patients with LVADs. We therefore systematically reviewed the literature and performed a meta-analysis to evaluate the impact of EBCR in LVAD child recipients.
