This investigation was carried out during two successive seasons of 2014 and 2015 on mature pomegranate trees cv. Manfalouty grown in calcareous soil at Borg-El-Arab region, Alexandria governorate, Egypt. It was conducted to determine if a combination of fast or slow release (i e phosphorus coated urea PCU 37%) nitrogen fertilizer with different levels of soil moisture can enhance growth of Manfalouty pomegranate trees with high productivity as compared to the current production practices as well as to reduce both rate and number of soil applications during the growing season. The results showed that all vegetative growth, leaf mineral contents and fruit characteristics parameters were significantly affected by interaction between levels of soil moisture of field capacity (FC) and slow-release nitrogen fertilizer. The chemical fruit characteristics, i e TSS, TSS/ acidity, vitamin C and anthocyanin were the maximum values at 50% FC + 400 g actual slow release nitrogen fertilizer, while the acidity value was the highest in the treatment of 100% FC + 200 g/tree as a slow release nitrogen fertilizer in both seasons. The fruit set was the maximum at 75% FC +200 or 300 g actual slow release nitrogen fertilizer in the first and second seasons, respectively. Also, yield showed the highest significant values of 44.1 and 47.1 Kg/tree with the treatment of 100% FC+ 400 g/tree in the first and second seasons, respectively. Moreover, the results showed that the combination between the 100% FC irrigation treatment and the highest amount of slow release fertilizer of 400 g actual slow release nitrogen fertilizer /tree produced the highest values of most vegetative growth traits i.e., tree height, shoot length, dry weight of 30 leaves, and chlorophyll content (SPAD) in both seasons. Also leaf nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus and magnesium content was increased under such conditions.
Aim: Role strain is one of the concerning issues for male nurse students which indicates increasing evidence for more gender based than their female peers, especially when caring for female patients. The purpose of the current research was to study the role strain of undergraduate male nurse students during their learning experience in nursing education program. Method: A cross sectional descriptive quantitative design was used in this study. A sample size of 124 and 274 of undergraduates male nurse students were from nursing Faculties of Ain Shams and Tanta Universities respectively. Role strain of male nurse students' questionnaire comprising four subscales; the Community Role Strain (12 items), the Colleague Role Strain (12 items), the Patient Role Strain (7 items), and the Instructors' Role Strain (10 items) was used to assess the role strain of male nurse students during their learning experience in nursing education program. Results: The findings indicated that half of male nurse students had medium level of total role strain. However, the level of total role strain among male nurses' students was higher at Tanta Nursing Faculty than did male students at Ain Shams Nursing Faculty. Conclusion: There is still much can and should do towards nursing profession to increase the satisfaction of men in nursing. This study provides awareness that important barriers persist for male nursing students in traditional learning environments which is female-oriented.
Background: The golden hour following a traumatic event is characterized by the need for rapid assessment and immediate resuscitation treatment, which represent the fundamental principles of Advanced Trauma Life Support. Aim: This study aimed to assess the impact of nursing intervention protocol about polytrauma care during the golden hour on nurses" performance. Research hypothesis: This study was hypothesized that the nurses" knowledge and practice will be significantly improved after implementing nursing intervention protocol. Research Design: A quasi-experimental design study with one group pre-test post-test approach was used to achieve the aim of the present study. Setting: it was conducted at Emergency departments affiliated to Ain Shams university hospitals. Subjects: A Convenient sample of all available nurses (thirty) working in Emergency departments. Tools: I-Self-administered nurses" polytrauma care knowledge questionnaire, it was used to assess nurses" knowledge regarding management of patient with polytrauma during the golden hour and II-Nurses" polytrauma care practice observational checklist: to assess nurses" practice regarding management of patients with polytrauma during the golden hours. Results: it was found that two thirds of the nurses were between twenty five to forty years, and less than half of them were graduated from nursing institute. There were highly statistically significant differences in knowledge and practice regarding care of patients with polytrauma during the golden hour with marked improvement post implementation among studied nurses. There was a significant relation between studied nurses' knowledge & practice and gender & education. Conclusion: there was an improvement in knowledge and practice post nursing intervention protocol implementation among studied nurses with statistically significant differences between pre-and post-knowledge, and practice. Recommendations: Replication of the study on a large probability sample for results generalization and Improve and update nurses" knowledge and skills about management of patients with polytrauma during the golden hour.
Background: Asthma is a serious global health problem and there is still lack of awareness regarding Buteyko Breathing Technique to achieve more control over it. Aim: this study aimed to assess the effect of practicing Buteyko breathing technique on asthma symptoms among patients with bronchial asthma. Hypothesis: It was hypothesized that practicing Buteyko Breathing Technique will have significant effect on reducing the severity of asthma symptoms among study group of patients with bronchial asthma and will improve their ability to control asthma. Design: A Quasi-experimental research design was used in this study.
