Figure 1: SonoSpace is a computer-based alternative to a human teacher's ability to perform repetitive exercises to improve timbre. To become an advanced player, a learner should follow a three-step process: (1) observe a teacher's example of timbre and practice it, (2) have the effort evaluated by the teacher and (3) receive feedback to guide the next attempt. SonoSpace substitutes this process with the visualization of timbre space obtained by the Variational Autoencoder (VAE).
