To reduce the computational complexity of the encoding process in Scalable Video Coding, we utilize the information of motion vector predictor (MVP) and the number of non-zero coefficients(NZC) to propose a fast mode decision algorithm. The probability models of motion vector predictor and the number of non-zero coefficients are built to predict the partition mode in the enhancement layer. In addition, the search range of motion estimation is adaptively adjusted to further reduce computational complexity. Experiment results show that the proposed algorithm can reduce coding time by up to 76% in average and provide higher time saving and better performance than previous work.I.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
