Although previously intended to seek information, the Internet becomes a means to communicate and social interaction. Thus, it has since proven that social media mediates interpersonal communication, connecting people that never met in face-to-face situations. Social media continuously shaped and shifted the way netizens interact amongst themselves This paper seeks how the netizens interact with each other and how this interactivity takes place within social media realms. Therefore, Social Construction theory and Social Information theory will be used to answer these questions. Using this method of research netnography was done on Bening Society community Facebook account. The informants in this study were drawn from members of the active Bening Society community. Netnography is utilized as a method and the Bening society on Facebook which garnered thousands of members is used as a case study. Hence, the informants are those who are active in participating in this online society. The results showed that social media, in this case, Facebook is able to provide comfort for users, especially in managing social interaction with friends. The process of interpersonal communication that occurs through Facebook resembles those in face-to-face interpersonal communication.
The growth in the number of netizens is now the impact of increasingly easy internet penetration and high penetration of social media that is easily accessed via smartphone gadgets. Research conducted by Candrasari (2016) states that female internet users cannot be separated from their social media. Within a day of 2-3 hours, his time is spent accessing digital media. Therefore digital competencies are needed for girls to avoid the negative effects of the internet. The purpose of this study is to get a picture of the competence of adolescent girls. Digital competence is a form of using technology safely and critically to facilitate work, get entertainment and to communicate (E. Encabo & Murcia, J: 2011: 166). This research was conducted on adolescent girls in Surabaya with qualitative research methods. Data obtained through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and literature studies. The results of the study indicate that the digital competence of adolescent girls is still not good, especially in the categories of skills using the internet, information management and responsibility for using internet which is still low. Perkembangan teknologi komunikasi dan informasi di Indonesia telah menghadirkan media baru yaitu media sosial. Beralihnya media konvensional menjadi media sosial menimbulkan perubahan pencarian informasi. Manusia akan melakukan berbagai cara untuk memenuhi kebutuhan informasinya yang akan menimbulkan perilaku pencarian informasi yang berbeda juga. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui bagaimana perilaku pencarian informasi politik di media sosial bagi pemilih pemula di Kota Surabaya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan teknik pengambilan data menggunakan wawancara mendalam. Informan dalam penelitian ini adalah remaja berusia 13-17 tahun yang akan menjadi pemilih pemula. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perilaku pencarian informasi di media sosial terlebih dalam media sosial Tiktok yang menjadi media favorit bagi pemilih pemula sebagai sumber informasi politiknya memiliki alur dan cara yang berbeda. Perilaku pencarian informasi di media sosial Tiktok cenderung perhatian pasif yaitu dilakukan dengan tidak sengaja.
Many private radio businesses have experienced a decline in advertising revenue during the COVID-19 pandemic; however, this did not happen to Radio Sritanjung FM Banyuwangi, which implemented mediamorphosis to support its broadcasts. This study aims to map the application of mediamorphosis in supporting the broadcast of cultural programs on Radio Sritanjung FM, Banyuwangi, East Java, Indonesia. This study used a qualitative virtual ethnographic method, which requires researchers to enter two research areas: the natural world and the virtual world. Researchers interacted freely with eight informants, such as Using-ethnic figures, Muslim leaders, radio station management, local advertisers, and loyal listeners through in-depth interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGD) to understand the ongoing mediamorphosis process in a virtual network. The research analysis using network society theory shows that the mediamorphosis process of Radio Sritanjung FM began in 2011 with Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. The latest technology application is audio streaming to support, promote, and disseminate the Using’s ethnic culture to foreign countries. The application of mediamorphosis during the COVID-19 pandemic presents a harmonization between cultural programs and Islamic religious values, strengthening the local identity of the Using-ethnicity, and increases financial benefits.
