The relevance of the problem of building an individual trajectory of methodical self-development of a teacher is due to the change of reference points in the training and certification of teachers. The article presents an analysis of the category "methodological training" of a foreign language teacher from the point of view of both the process and the result. As a result of the analysis of psychological and pedagogical, methodological literature and comparison of essential characteristics of the desired category, the authors revealed that the teacher's methodological competence is a complex multi-faceted set of psychological, pedagogical and linguistic components. The content of the components of methodological training includes knowledge of modern approaches and technologies of training, knowledge about the essence and main characteristics of the learning process, the availability of skills and abilities of effective organization of the learning process, as well as personal and professional qualities of the teacher AND staff. On the basis of comparative analysis of requirements of the FSES IN teacher education and Professional standards articulate a set of knowledge, skills, and labor actions, constitute the essence of the methodical training of teachers of a foreign language and to determine the specific tasks of professional self-development and improvement of the teacher. The identified knowledge, skills and labor actions will allow you to design an individual program in accordance with the predicted difficulties and complications in your professional activity.
In the present article the author raises the problem of ecological awareness formation when studying foreign languages at University. The importance of ecological culture and its necessity for any member of modern society is analyzed. It is pointed out that higher education is the perfect platform for raising ecological awareness, and the author comes to the conclusion that studying foreign languages is one of the best ways to reach the goal, as studying languages you can acquire knowledge in almost any sphere and develop greatly the ability of critical thinking. In the article the authors analyze a mistake as an integral part of any studying process on the example of studying English at University. The authors point out that making mistakes is quite natural, moreover it helps reveal major problems in terms of both studying and teaching. Thanks to students’ mistakes the teacher has an opportunity to understand how to work with a definite group, what aspects and methods need more attention and activity. The article considers basic reasons which lead to mistakes and ideas how to deal with them based on the authors’ experience. It is pointed out that the teacher has to decide how to prevent and work with mistakes in every occasion as every student and every lesson are unique and require individual approach and attention.
People all over the world continue to adjust to the new reality we had to face with the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, when some social restrictions have been enforced. These restrictions severely limited face-to-face interactions and included in particular work-from-home and study-from-home. The shift from face-to-face lessons to entirely virtual model resulted in implementing distance education technologies, students and teachers had to get used to using different online platforms, which caused many emotional reactions in the education process mostly because of omission of high-quality interaction and increase of individual work. Students, as well as teachers, had to adapt to these changes in a short period of time, which turned out to be extremely stressful for all members of studying-teaching process. The purpose of this practice-based paper is to explore how teachers and students got adjusted to the situation and present the authors’ ideas on some problems they came across when working distantly during the period of Covid-19 pandemic. Emotions seem to be a pivotal point in education, so the authors mostly concentrate on general overview of connection between emotions on the whole and the emotional state of both parties of communication – teachers and students – and their role in successful teaching-learning process.
