-Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is a hierarchy of metrics to measure the production machine performance in manufacturing industry. OEE measurement is inspired by the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and used as a key machine performance tool which measures availability, performance and quality rate. This study was conducted in a manufacturing company producing a broad range of packaging products. The main issue found relating to machine productivity was where availability shows a significant decrease since the purchase date.. Thus, data were collected for 12 months from the corrugator's machine and analysed using Microsoft Excel Software to determine the value of the output table, and presented graphically. The results of this study revealed that availability achieved an improvement of 5 per cent over the world standard OEE of 90 per cent, while the machine performance and quality rate each accounted for 10 per cent and 5 per cent decrease in the 'Ideal' value of OEE. Moreover, the comparisons with the 'Ideal' value of OEE were an indication level of total productivity improvement.
Abstract. In today's highly competitive market, the demand for quality is the single most critical factor for companies to survive in the ever-expanding global marketplace. Total Quality Management (TQM) has been developed as a result of intense global competition. Most of the previous works show that TQM has significant relationship with business performance. However, the examining of moderators is less given in previous work, which mediators are known generally as general tools and techniques without specific focus on types of improvement. The purpose of this paper is to propose relationship between TQM practices and business performance with mediators effect of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) based on extensive review of the literature. The main contribution of this paper is to identify the relationships among TQM, TPM practices and business performance as a conceptual model. This proposed conceptual model will help the academicians and industry players to have better understanding on the relationship between the practices.
These days, Emotional Intelligence (El) is becoming increasingly well-known in organizations and is closely linked to job performance. The purpose of this qualitative meta-analysis is to determine the relationship between EI and job performance as well as the impact of EI on job performance. A total of 14 empirical studies are reviewed in this study. The overall results demonstrated that EI has a positive relationship with job performance. Besides that, most of the studies show great impact of EI on job performance. Several recommendations for further investigations are also proposed in this study.
This research is focusing on analyzing readiness of automotive manufacturing firm on Industry 4.0 towards quality performance. In the era of globalization, most manufacturing firms all over the world are constantly looking for ways to increase productivity. The manufacturing industry is mainly faced with the problem of Industry 4.0’s awareness and implementation. Top and middle management of DRB-HICOM Automotive manufacturing firm from all departments have been selected as a sample study. The questionnaire has been used to get the feedback from top and middle management about readiness of Industry 4.0. There are three main objectives that were assessing the level of firm’s characteristics, determining the level of Industry 4.0 readiness for DRB-HICOM Automotive manufacturing company, namely via variables of Applied Technology, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Internet of Things (IoT), Cyber Physical System (CPS) and determining the relationship between the Industry 4.0 and quality performance. Quantitative method was used in this research which incoperates the distribution of 96 questionnaires to the respondents involving DRB-HICOM Automotive manufacturing firm. In terms of conducting the required data analysis, Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 22 was used. Result shows that all related constructs have a significant yet strong relationship between Industry 4.0 and quality performance. It is hoped that this initial Industry 4.0 work will help to spur future research about implementation of Industry 4.0, across the boards among many industrial sectors.
Abstract. The quality of a product is the main concern for customers. Hence, the objectives of this research are to determine factor that affect the inline quality inspection and improvement solutions of the quality inspection standard in the production process. Meanwhile, the scopes of the research are studying of all the factors that influence inline quality inspection and techniques to improve quality inspection standard. Hence, interviews had been carried out towards the respondents who work under the Quality Assurance Department and in charge of inline quality inspection. Through analyzing the chosen products which were cot sheet and latex cap, it can be said that worker, material, and machine are the most common factors that cause defects on the products. Therefore, the result of this research shows that the worker's training, maintenance and checking procedure of incoming raw materials are the main influence factors to overcome the problems occurred.
