The interactions of Ce and P on microstructure, mechanical properties in as-cast pure copper were investigated by utilising the OM, SEM and TEM techniques, combined with tensile tests. The results reveal that the micron-scale CeP precipitates are distributed along grain boundaries (GBs), leading to an obvious reduction of grain size and a significant improvement in mechanical properties, compare with pure copper. In addition, the fracture mechanism transformed from microvoid coalescence fracture to quasi-cleavage failure due to the formation of grain boundary precipitates CeP.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
