The extensive research conducted over a prolonged period of time has resulted in the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, leading to the development of numerous applications. One such recent AI application is ChatGPT, an AI chatbot that has gained millions of users in a short span of time, and can read and write texts. The aim of this study is to compare the performance of ChatGPT in an anatomy course with that of undergraduate students. The participants were students from the Faculty of Health Sciences at a state university in Turkey, who had previously taken an anatomy course. The examination was in the form of a multiple-choice test consisting of 40 items. It was found that ChatGPT outperformed the students in the examination.
This study aims to determine students' opinions about the educational use of the Metaverse. The study was conducted during the spring semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. The sample of the study consists of 34 second-year students at the Department of Computer Engineering of a state university in the Southeast Anatolia region of Turkey. The students participated in and evaluated the Metaverse. After the application, interviews were conducted with the participants to find out the students' opinions about Metaverse. In this study, a mixed-method in which both qualitative and quantitative research methods were considered together was used. As a result of the study, it was found that the majority of students had never used Metaverse before, but wanted to use the Metaverse environment in the classroom. Students indicated that Metaverse can be used in many fields and disciplines. However, they were hesitant to use Metaverse in all faculty courses. Students believe that the Metaverse can enhance their knowledge of the subject. In addition, students consider that Metaverse can make the course content more enjoyable and increase their motivation for the course. They also believe that Metaverse has pedagogical advantages and will be used in the classroom in the near future. As for the disadvantages, they mentioned that Metaverse makes learning difficult and distracted, students disconnected from real life, and violates class discipline.
Various theories and models are used to understand the impact of technology in education. One of these models is the UTAUT-2 model. This model allows us to understand the acceptance and use of technology. In this study, students' intentions and behaviours related to using the UBYS system, which is used as a learning management system, were examined within the framework of the UTAUT-2 model. The structural equation model was also used in the study. Smart PLS 3.3.5 and IBM SPSS Statistics v20.0 programmes were used for all data analyses. The study was conducted with 208 university students in 2021-2022. The result of structural equation modeling is that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, facilitating conditions, and hedonic motivation are among the variables that influence the use and acceptance of UBYS. The components of the model explain 75% of behavioural intentions. With the knowledge gained in this study, it may be possible to increase the usefulness of the UBYS system used. At the same time, the results of this study should make an important contribution to the literature on the UTAUT-2 model.
The main objective of this study was to investigate the level of cyberloafing and nomophobia among university students. The study also aimed to assess the level of cyberloafing and nomophobia among university students in relation to various variables. Data were collected using demographic information form, a cyberloafing scale and a nomophobia questionnaire. The study was conducted with 302 students studying in a state university in the Southeast Anatolia region of Turkey during the fall semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. Descriptive statistics, one-way test ANOVA, independent samples t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient and Kruskal-Wallis test were used to analyse the data. The analysis revealed that the students' cyberloafing level was low and nomophobia level was moderate. Based on the statistical analyses, significant differences were found between students' level of nomophobia according to gender and daily phone usage. However, no statistically significant difference was found between students' age and their level of nomophobia. No significant difference was also found between gender, age, daily phone usage and level of cyberloafing. Moreover, there is a significant relationship between cyberloafing and nomophobia behaviour of the students.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
