This study aimed to describe the development and implementation of COVID-19 vaccine and testing center’s location finder portal for Nigeria. Names, locations, coordinates, pictures and other relevant information related to the health centers were obtained from the Naational Ccenter for Ddisease Control and the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency. The data was used to create a database which was used to connected to the Google API. The portal contains sections like Nearest Centers, Vaccination Centers, Testing Centers, All Centers, FAQ, Survey and COVID News. The objective of the study is to improve access to COVID-19 testing site, enhance access to COVID-19 vaccination centers across the country and educate Nigerians about COVID-19. The research suggest the active participation of religious and community leaders would improve access and willingness of their subjects to be vaccinated
The effects of urban heat islands (UHI) have received a lot of attention because they have a huge impact on human health and environmental resource sustainability. A key moment in the history of mankind has been urbanization, and there is no doubt that the world is rapidly urbanizing, which is causing temperature changes. The relationship between climate change and rapid urbanization in Nguru Local Government Area, Yobe State, Nigeria, is investigated in this paper. The study used remote sensing data to reveal the extent of urban microclimate change trends over the next two decades (2001–2021). Thus, the microclimate temperature increased by nearly +5.32 °C in 2021 (39.39°C) compared to 34.07°C in 2001. Furthermore, the minimum temperature in 2001 was 22.33 °C, while that of 2021 was 23.36 ℃. The built-up area increased by 556.73%, from 446 hectares in 2001 to 2,483 hectares in 2021. Accelerated urbanization and the city's blue and green facilities, which are not preserved or safeguarded due to a poor planning system, are to blame for these modifications to the urban climate and design. The study aimed to determine the relationship between urbanization and urban heat islands in Nguru local government area, Yobe State, Nigeria. The picture of the situation in Nguru sheds light on the enormous challenges that cities in developing countries encounter in dealing with local and global climate change-related risks. Indeed, this situation necessitates an integrated strategy to address climate change both within and outside of cities. Policymakers must increase spending on urban planning, fund, adaptation of approaches through urban planning, and strengthen urban planning institutions.
This paper examined the spatial distribution of health care facilities in Dass local government area of Bauchi state using GIS tools. Data were obtained from primary and secondary sources: a GPS was used to collect the coordinates of each health care facility. Data from the Ministry of Health (Bauchi State) about the location, name and types of health care facilities in the study area included one general hospital; one model primary health centre, fourteen primary health centers, one clinic, one dispensary and one health post. Population data was obtained from the National Population Commission (NPC, 2006). GIS analysis was used in analyzing the data. The analysis of nearest neighbour was done by using the extension of Arc GIS 10.5 in the spatial analyst tool and average nearest neighbour. The result shows that there is less than 1% (0.01 level of significance) likelihood that the spatial pattern of the distribution of health care facilities in Dass Local Government Area is dispersed and this could be as a result of random chance. This might be as the result of the fewer number of health facilities. The research recommends that government should locate health care services close to the people as possible as distance was found to influence utilization.
