Appropriate student’s major placement in high school can help students to better improve their academic achievement. There are many variables which must be considered to determine the student’s majors, such as: Gender, Interests, Intelligence Quotient (IQ); Four subjects in Junior High School (JHS), average junior high school grades, matriculation score of four subjects, and average rate of matriculation. The number of variables used in the selection, causes some weaknesses among them, such as the complexity of variable, the inefficiency of variable and the existence of some variables which is only as an addition without having a significant contribution. This study aims to reduce the number of these variables so it will become easier to analyze and to be applied. The Process of reduction was done by combining experiments with Predefined attributes. A total of ten combinations were attempted using K-Nearest Neighbor (K-NN) and Naïve Bayes Classifier (NBC) which then was measured by Confusion Matrix accuracy. The experimental result showed that the combination of variables which produce the best accuracy were the 9th and 10th experiment with variable matriculation, interest, and IQ, and an accuracy of 96.77% from K-NN also 98.38% from NBC. By combining both algorithms, 99.87% of maximum accuracy was obtained from those three variables. New information which can be extracted from this research is that there are only three important variables to determine major placement in Senior High School, Average Scores of Matriculation, Interests and IQ followed by four supporting variables such as the scores of Mathematic, Physics, English and Economics in Matriculation.
The understanding of spiritual doctrine becomes the reason, and it causes an escalation in violence in the name of religion. Misinterpreting the Qur'an verses causes the doer to legalize the violence they do. This article presents the responses of Islamic higher education students in Riau Province and Riau Islands about the interpretation of violent verses in the Qur’an and Hadith. The sample consisted of 251 students from UIN Sultan Syarif Kasim in Riau, STAIN Bengkalis, and STAIN Abdurrahman Saleh in Riau Islands using a random sampling technique. Using descriptive analysis, the students’ responses against the interpretation of violent verses were categorized as fairly positive at 61%. It indicates that 39% of the students had a negative response. Hence, this study recommends the importance of efforts to “neutralize” the students’ understanding of the three Islamic higher education in Riau to prevent their tendency to have harsh or even radical understanding and responses.
The Community Service Program is carried out based on the problems faced by pineapple MSMEs, namely: 1) lack of knowledge and skills of the community regarding the diversification of pineapple processing; 2) pineapple waste has not been utilized optimally; 3) market access to promote products is still very limited; and 4) unavailability of communication media such as marketing programs for marketing pineapple processed products. From several identified problems, it was formulated that the problem to be resolved in this activity was the MSME Empowerment Program through diversification of processed pineapple products. This community service activity is Participatory Action Research (PAR) carried out using a descriptive approach method. In this service the target is farmers and 12 active UKM in Kualu Nenas Village. The results of the dedication show that the farmers strongly agree with the existence of community service activities as an effort to develop the economy, especially in the development of the community's economy through diversification of processed pineapple products.
